A budget hotel but do not be put off by the price or location. The hotel has recently changed hands and they are working hard to provide the best of service and facilities for a really economical rate. Good sized clean rooms with balcony and en-suite. Very friendly helpful staff. Most enjoyable breakfast, more that enough choice but do not...

Very friendly, like a family run hotel. Staff very helpful and friendly. Food good 4 course evening meal and typical Maderian. Very convenient for buses and a short walk to the promenade. Bus to Funchal takes about 30 minutes.

Very good value, very good service and extremely helpful with problems. Breakfast not great. Rooms have a terrible locking system which involves your room key and the electrical supply to your room, meaning that if you are sharing with anyone who falls asleep you need to leave them with no power supply to gain entrance back to the room. They...

We stayed here for 3 nights. March 2015 It was a very friendly hotel, lovely staff (with great English which put us to shame) and very clean with bedding and towels changed every day. Great wifi in the bar but none available in the rest of the hotel. As others have mentioned, parts of the hotel would benefit from a...

We enjoyed our time here. We thought good three star rather than four only because it was a little worn in places. However although the towels may have been a bit thin they were beautifully clean and changed daily. Lovely helpful ladies in reception nothing too much trouble and public areas small but magic. Also very close and level into...

I have read some of the reviews on this hotel and quite honestly wonder if they stayed at the same place!!! It appears that some people have champagne tastes on lemonade money!!!! We found the hotel to be great value and I am sure that once upon a time it was worthy of its 4 stars, We received the 4...

Just returned from our second visit here and for the price you cannot knock it. It is a bit worn at the seams and could do with some redecoration and new carpets but everywhere was clean, the rooms were a good size and also cleaned everyday, with clean towels also provided daily. it's proximity to the airport is close, around...

40 bedded hotel. Clean and tidy. Restaurant food not very good although the waiter was fine. We only had dinner here once preferring to eat out after sampling their wares. Breakfast very repeatative - horrible frankfurter type sausages, beans and either fried or scrambled eggs. Wafer thin ham and cheese slices. Synthetic orange juice. Plus point - the bread was...

We just got back from here this morning. The hotel is very basic and in general need of refurbishment but is very clean and staff helpful. Santa Cruz itself is a bit run down not much to do here at all. We went into Funchal a few times which has much more tourist feel. Overall we enjoyed it but dont...
