After Kuala Lumpur, I flew directly to Sibu with Air Asia and stayed two nights in Sibu in this hotel. Having prepaid for my stay, for just 43 euros all-in, altogether, for two nights, via a Dutch hotel booking website, back home in Amsterdam before i left for my trip, I was absolutely delighted with my room and actually with my whole stay in the Paramount Hotel. The hotel reception could also get me a Grab car within 5 minutes so i had no complaints whatsoever other than the fact that one or two of the reception staff might probably has/have to brush up his or her spoken English, so as avoid any would-be future misunderstandings with the hotel guests, this being apparently mostly a business travellers hotel (as Sibu apparently has very few tourists!). But the whole reception team was actually mostly very kind and helpful during my stay. Extra bonuses for me were the simply wonderful river view from my room as well as the various new developments right behind this hotel, with quite many trendy and hip restaurants and cafes. For in-house guests, without breakfast being included in the room rate, a good set breakfast (both eastern or western) can be ordered on the same morning, at the cafe next to the reception, for just 18 ringgit all-in per person.…
Hi. Ok so this hotel is quite okay to stay, it’s just that before checking in, they still need verification that you really booked this hotel using your credit card i guess? And if they failed to do so, you will need to pay a deposit of RM 50 to stay there. Meaning, additional 50MYR. 🤷🏻♀️ For the places that sell best foods around that area, I suggest going to the villages near the hotel. There’s a place in the village called “Roy’s Corner” . My favourite food there will be “Mee Kampua” and also the roasted chicken. And the drinks there are also sold in XXL size 💁🏻♀️ ( in case you’re THAT thirsty 😂) across the street of this hotel, there’s also a cafe named “Rafie Cafe”. They sell lots of food there like Roti Canai, Briyani Rice, Salted egg Chicken Rice and lots more! They even have their own buffet their just in case you wanna eat ‘nasi campur’ 💁🏻♀️ So far everything’s delicious there too :)…
Went here twice for my workplace's farewell dinner as well as my colleague's wedding, imho this place is quite spacious albeit its expensive than ur regular hotel like Li Hua opposite Rejang river..for me,the experience is good enough and the room is quite cosy, recommended if u dont want to live in RH
Very old hotel, feels like 30 years ago kind of hotel. Air con very loud and disturbing, my staff room water supply stopped a few hours before midnight. We had to kill spiders in the room.. pillow is super flat. We didn’t have a good night sleep. The whole hotel smells bad.
The Paramount Hotel Sibu is on the edge of the shopping and eating centre of this small city and is about a 5-minute walk along a canal. It is a basic hotel with clean rooms, although the carpet did need a thorough vacuuming. That aside the bathroom was clean, even though there was a leak in one of the pipes. The staff are quite friendly and try to help out. What is outstanding with the hotel is the view. If you are fortunate enough to get a room facing the Rajang River, it is possible to get a good view of this mighty, historically and economically important rivers. Rivers were the 'roads' of Sarawak and the Rajang was almost like a super highway.
