Detailed Reviews
We have stayed at the hotel many years during the season. We prefer late September where the weather is stable, the heated pools still warm and number of guests are lower than in peak season. The hotel is remote, and the surrounding area do not offer much. This hotel is for relaxation only (or golf). Never tried cycling, but I have seen many cyclist. Running is hilly. The facilities are top quality. Exceptional pool areas, and the beach club is the best I have experienced. Gym with high ceiling, lots of light and new equipment, and not the usual low ceiling hide away place. There’s dress code in the evening and a band. This adds to the atmosphere. The dinner and evenings are really nice as the courtyard with the restaurant and bar (both outside) are in a big open garden with a view to the mountains and ocean. Rooms are big, high quality and with great views. We prefer to stay in a room with a view over the adult pool as you get the evening sun, but in the hot summer period, the rooms with a view over the main pool offers nice shadow and great views of the ocean.
The staff makes this Hotel of highest quality. They are well training, and its the same staff every year.
We don’t think it’s appropriate to sell day passes to the beach club during peak season. What you are paying for here is privacy. We experienced families with young kids on a day pass parking 5 young boys and then went for the bar. . after 1 hour the well trained staff stopped the “party”, but damaged already done.
This year was special due to Covid-19, but the hotel is very much on top of that situation, and you really don’t want to go anywhere once you have arrived at this great place.

My wife and I were very impressed with the quality of every aspect of our recent stay at Finca Cortesin
The decor and rooms are calm and restful, beautifully designed with understated quality.
The gardens are a haven for birdlife and beautifully maintained; I'm still in awe that the mature olive, fig and other trees were imported and planted ahead of the opening in 2008. They appear healthy and lush as though they've always been in the ground.
The staff were welcoming throughout, working across areas and communicating very well with each other, providing discreet yet consistently attentive service.
The 3 piece band who played in the evening had a really good repertoire for the mixture of ages and nationalities, and evolved into a human jukebox, playing requests and rising to our challenges with grace and fun.
The only difficulty in our stay was having to make a choice of food and drink from the wide selection of regular dishes and daily specialites.
Our high expectations of Finca Cortesin were surpassed. Thank you to the excellent staff.

If you want to be active, there is every possibility at Finca Cortesin with its golf course, gym, tennis and paddle courts and pools, but if you just want to relax, this stylish resort is just as fantastic with its serene garden, pool area and spa facilities.
We enjoy being active, and took advantage of everything that the hotel had to offer. We especially have to mention the two large pools, where the adult pool was 50 meters long and perfect for lap swimming.
The resort is situated about 10 minutes by car from the ocean, but has a beach club with free shuttle service. Going to the beach club was a great way to get a change of scenery and get a bit of a beach vacation as well. The shuttle service worked really well. At one time, the minivan was full, but then it was immediately arranged for another car to take us to the beach. All the other times, the minivan was ready to pick us up the second we very ready to go.
There are also three wonderful restaurants to enjoy at the resort, and one more at the beach club. We have written a separate review of Kabuki Raw, that was absolutely fantastic, but all of the restaurants were highly recommended. A good advice is to make reservations at least a day in advance, especially for Kabuki Raw, as they are very popular also for dinner guests not staying at the resort.
We stayed in a family suite with our two teenage boys, which consisted of one suite with a living room area and an extra double room connected. The rooms were really large and spaceous, with luxurious bathroom and a large terrace and private little garden. It suited us perfectly.
All in all, we had a wonderful time at Finca Cortesin and are already planning to come back next year. Highly recommended!

Stayed during Eastern holiday, with parents and 2 children of 2 and 5.
Children are not allowed in the inside pool except between 11 and 3,which made it almost impossible to make use of the pool. Outside pools both closed due to bad weather.
Restaurants are fine but cuisine is very classical (old fashioned in my opinion)Breakfast-menu (not a la carte) is again limited and too simple for the price paid.
Lunch facilities are limited.
Food quality as such is excellent.
Accomodation and rooms are very luxurious (excellent)
Personnel is very friendly, but young families are looked at by majority of older guests.
I would recommend the hotel for golf players/ couple holiday/weekend for people of certain age and business related golf trips, but certainly not for young families during low season (oktober-june).

We’ve been fortunate enough to stay in some top hotels but we cannot wait to stay here again. From start to finish it was wonderful. Everything one would expect and more. How anyone can give a bad review is beyond us!
We loved that there are no brands or points of sale for third parties anywhere. Just pure class and elegance. Of course little touches like two cold water bottles in our car when the valet returned it for a trip out. My only hesitation is REI, it wasn’t for us - probably wonderful if one likes Japanese food! We also ate at the Italian restaurant. If the manager reads this I would recommend louder music there, it was very quiet and a bit uncomfortable! No request was too big anywhere in the hotel, especially with the Portuguese band who allowed us to keep requesting songs when we were the only ones there. Breakfast was the best we’ve ever had ALTHOUGH we were a little surprised to be charged for Eggs Benedict, particularly when we weren’t given a menu, just simply asked if we would like anything like that and we said yes. For €750 per night just for the room I would suggest all breakfast items should be included.
We’ve already booked to go back. Now if only we could take our dog with us it really would be paradise.

Together with my husband we came to this property to check the fitness and spa facilities as we were interested to buy annual access membership in a qualitative place close to our Villa. We had our little Maltipoo puppy of 3 months old with us. Not only we were not allowed to see anything with our doggy, we also had a very cold reply that dogs are not allowed into the building at all (even tiny ones, which could be held in the arms) because they could potentially disturb some guests. First of all, there were practically no guests inside and there was absolutely no one to disturb. Secondly, the facilities which I was able to see alone while my husband was waiting outside with the puppy were not impressive at all. Anantara Marbella has a more charming style in terms of interiors. The gym is very tight with too much of equipment and there is absolutely no room to breathe. As a resume, we didn’t like the attitude, zero clients orientation and facilities didn’t meet our expectations.

We have stayed here before before children and loved it. We still loved it this time (with kids) BUT the freezing cold pool now with kids was a serious issue. They couldn't get in it was that cold. I couldn't get in. My husband did 2 lengths and had to leave.
Some other couples we met had to cut short the holiday and leave the hotel and go to other hotels nearby as it was just untenable.
This was in May (2019) so not like we were there in the Winter. Honestly if they just heated all the pools the place would be perfect. (The beach club, the adult pool and the main pool all were freezing).
It sort of ruined the holiday as we couldn't do anything else in the day - everything is based around the pools.
The Japanese restaurant was wonderful and the hotel, grounds etc all beautiful. Just wouldn't be able to go back ever again which is such a shame.

+1
Stunning hotel and setting. We stayed in a pool room which was spacious and felt luxurious. I gave this 5 stars even though there were some faults that you would not expect at these prices. The service for lunch at the pool
Bar was a bit hit and miss with the waitress not listening to the order. The pool In the suite was shallow and more of a plunge pool. No iron available which was a pain as we wanted to freshen up shirts for a wedding.
The restaurants were very good. The staff were overall good. The beach bar was great and the staff were great. Transfer form the hotel to the beach club was efficient
We will return but only in June or September when the rates reflect the product and service.

Just arrived at the hotel for a very special family weekend.
Sadly we’re Very disappointed with the suites.
We booked 2 Executive suites for a special celebration and received the worst possible 2 suites of the resort. Over looking the entrance parking with No real balcony/terrace and no outdoor seating/loungers.
We should have double checked when booking the suites are they are all very different in comfort and luxury apparently.
Spa: For a family friendly hotel families need to know that the indoor pool is only accessible until 3pm for children under 14!!!
Not easy when the weather is not warm enough to swim in the outdoor pool…
Golf: Be ready to pay to hit some balls!!
We’re all single handicap players and wanted to hit some balls at the resort driving range next to the lobby but you have to pay 30euros per person even if it is part of the hotel and you’re already paying good money for your suites… Not feeling very welcome…
We have yet to try the restaurants and the other services of the hotel and really hoping to be positively surprised.
I know I’m used to the South east asian standard, service and kindness but I was really expecting more from this resort.
Or is it that we are only staying 1 night and it is not worth their effort??

We spent 6 weeks here and have eaten multiple times in all of the restaurants in the hotel. Excellent service usually but there is a need for investment in a number of areas. The suites/rooms we stayed in are generally large and comfortable but some of the furniture needs to be replaced or upgraded and the furniture on the outside terrace was poor and not particularly comfortable. Large bathroom with very good pressure in the shower and plenty of space for clothing and other items. Comfortable large beds.
Good range of food at breakfast served in El Jardin and in the evening eating outside in the garden there is a great experience. Inside the restaurant is less attractive and the overall size needs to be increased particularly when it is impossible to eat on the outside terrace. Food is generally very good with multiple daily specials. One other restaurant Don Giovanni ( Italian ) is a nice setting when one can eat outside but the menu and food is somewhat disappointing.!! The principal problem is that the chef there is Spanish and I strongly recommend that an Italian chef replaces the existing chef and that more typical Italian specials are regularly available on the menu which is not the case generally. The other main restaurant is REI which offers Asian Fusion and Japanese cuisine which is usually very good but a little on the expensive side. Otherwise the hotel has a large indoor pool with full spa facilities as well as a most attractive outdoor pool with an excellent restaurant for lunch in a pleasant setting and the gardens are very attractive. There is also a very good 18 hole golf course in excellent condition where the Solheim Cup was played in 2023. It is a challenging course more suited to players with a 24 handicap or less.
To summarise this hotel has every thing going for it but for it to live up fully to its potential some investment is needed soon principally in the rooms , some of the restaurants and with extra attention and efforts throughout the hotel it could really be 5 star and offer an outstanding stay and facilities. If you are visiting the Costa del Sol then I can strongly recommend that you give this hotel a try.

Finca Cortesin is aproximately 20 minutes away from Puerto Banus by car. The hotel can arrange a taxi or a Chauffer Driven Car to Puerto Banus at a cost, from 35€.
We have stayed in both hotels.
For the adults I would recommend Finca Cortesin without hesitation. The whole resort has an understated elegance, which is quite unusual in modern hotels. All of the hotel facilities are exceptional. The suites are very large and comfortable. The three restaurants (including Michelin 1 star Japanese) are all excellent and provide plenty of variety. The staff are attentive, but discreet. The gym and spa are very beautiful; and the hotel has three large swimming pools, including one indoors and a spectacular 50 metre outside pool. There is also a nice children's pool and play area near the 'main' pool. The hotel also operates a Children's Club in season. I suspect older children might feel a little restricted in this hotel, but a three year old would be very well catered for.
The hotel is quite remote, but otherwise very easy to find. It is about a one hour drive straightforward drive from Malaga airport. The Beach Club is about one mile from the main hotel, but is served by a regular, daily courtesy bus in season (from the end March I think). There are other decent restaurants within a short driving distance if you feel like a change.
Marbella Club is more overtly child friendly, but to my mind there is an element of faded glory about the place now. This, and the virtually adjacent 5 star Peunte Romano hotel, occupy a very large amount of beach front space, which can make it feel a little crowded at times. Some rooms are in need of updating, so be careful with this if you decide to book here. In the evenings the hotel takes on a more 'adult' persona, for reasons that will become obvious if you decide to stay here.
Where the Marbella Club wins is on location. The private beach area is very nice and easily accessible from the hotel complex. There are plenty of food options, particularly if you include the Puente Romano options, but the restaurants can get very busy in season. Marbella and Puerto Banus are both within walking distance, along the attractive Golden Mile boulevard.
Hope this helps a bit.
