The family run establishment was incredible. We went for a lovely long al fresco lunch in these beautiful and peaceful surroundings. The family and staff were warm and welcoming, the location is breathtaking and the food.. Well, the food.. This was one of the best meals I have eaten. Three courses plus Chef Albi's famous 4-day tiramisu and cheese and...

Wow! We held a wedding party lunch for 57 people here. Not simple catering for that many people at once and it was out of this world! The table set up, the location, the quality of the food and the whole event. We live in Australia and have very high expectations on food - and you beat this! Amazing and...

This place is a little off the beaten track but well worth the effort. Friendly owners greet you and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are big and traditional with all facilities. There is a good pool and wonderful views. The restaurant also has a large terrace with the same good views. The food is exceptional.

We always look forward to dinner at Calagrana on our frequent trips to the Niccone Valley. The glorious position on the hillside with staggering views from the terrace over the rolling valley sets the scene for a divine Umbrian evening - starting with a warm and enthusiastic welcome from Ellie, the hostess with the mostest, and her recommendation for pink...

We were staying with local friends near to this miserable place and had heard the food was good. It was a very hot buggy night. The tables were all arranged on a covered veranda with fabulous views. So far, so good. However, before even ordering we were assailed by the most appalling gag making sewerage smells. As we had arrived...

Management response:

It was with sadness we read this review as we pride ourselves on giving our customers good service and excellent food. You can see this by reading previous restaurant Tripadvisor reviews. The tone of this review is so unfortunate and full of inaccuracies it was pointless to respond to them. We sincerely hope, that this review does not put off...

We have been dining at rustic but elegant Calagrana every summer for many years and have always come away deeply satisfied by the simple but marvelous food and relaxed but gracious service. In a gorgeous bucolic setting overlooking the lovely Niccone Valley, chef Alberto gathers local foodstuffs and traditions into a personal cuisine that stays close to its Umbrian roots...

Had the great pleasure of dining at this beautiful restaurant during our Umbrian experience. The food and wine while absolutely true to the regional products had the delicious subtleties only a well travelled and knowledgeable Chef and front of house could provide. Views were stunning but peaceful. The service first class while at the same time discreet and relaxing. A...

Our room at the Calagrana was comfortable, rustic and romantic with well proportioned spaces. The hotel is ideally located for anyone in the mood for exploring around the many medieval towns in the region or daytrips to Siena and Florence whilst looking to return to a picturesque and serene setting with a warm homely environment that our hosts provided. Calagrana is in a beautifully peaceful location with stunning views out over hillsides. The house with its thick walls, shutters and terracotta tiles is all you imagine of an Umbrian farmhouse and sits in pretty gardens with a lovely courtyard and terrace. The atmosphere around the place was very welcoming and relaxed, thanks in no small way to our friendly...
