A landmark destination, and pioneering in its contemporary luxury heritage on the Canary Island of Tenerife, The Ritz-Carlton, Abama champions Tenerife-lux from its iconic style and architecture, premium accommodation, first-class facilities to experiential luxury curated throughout the guest experience. Located in Guia de Isora, a peaceful gem of a destination on the South West coast of Tenerife, this exclusive five-star resort is operated by The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company L.L.C., and exists in a stunning ‘finca’ setting of natural beauty, surrounded by lush and vibrant vegetation, volcanic landscapes and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Designed by Melvin Villarroel and with romantic Moorish references to an Arab citadel, the resort includes seven swimming pools, access to a secluded beach, waterfalls and exuberant subtropical vegetation, composed of 90,000 trees with 300 different species of palms and shrubs. The timeless retreat provides a wide choice of accommodation, all with The Ritz-Carlton seal. Guests staying in the new Villa Club will be treated to an exclusive and bespoke service in the luxuriously appointed rooms and suites, nestled amongst the lush tropical garden with access to a semi-private pool. An entire lane of villas is reserved exclusively for adults, where guests can truly enjoy a relaxing stay. Bespoke family villas include interconnecting deluxe rooms and one- bedroom suites, ideal for large family groups to stay together while enjoying an exclusive menu of amenities. A perfectly pampering spa of 2,500 m2 offers an indulgent menu using Espa, Spanish brand Sepai, and native island ingredients. The Ritz-Carlton, Abama is also home to enviable facilities including Ritz Kids – an immersive children's club with a programme designed by the renowned Oceanographer, Jean- Michel Cousteau. A gourmet paradise and a culinary journey, restaurants include El Mirador by Cesar Gonzalez, Beach Club, Txoko by Martin Berasategui and Kabuki, which has been awarded a Michelin star. Guests also enjoy close access to the Dave Thomas-designed championship golf course and Academy, one of the most challenging 18-hole golf courses in Spain, as well as seven tennis courts and four paddle tennis courts.

We spend a week in this nice hôtel, very beautiful pools and garden and a nice small beach. I did tennis classes everyday, the coach was great - definitely recommend! Good breakfast too and they are very welcoming with kids :)

We chose this hotel as part of a BA holiday package and boy were we pleased. This complex is amazing. The staff are simply wonderful, Joao, Roxana and all of the staff, Valentina the concierge and our tennis coach Hegoi. We had a tennis lesson every day for a week and our playing has improved no end. This has been a wonderful experience and we will be back. The complex is stunning by day and night and the views for example from the Breakfast restaurant is beautiful. We will be back.

I spend a week with a group of golf players. I don't play golf and I was the most happy person to be able to play tennis . I took private lessons with Hegoi, a very talented, professionel and friendly coach. He comes from Sergi Bruguera academie , and it's just amasing , it's another dimension . A very good teacher, I HIGHLY recommend ! Just ask at the hotel or at the golf club house ! and he gives Padle lessons too ! Will return only for tennis and for the place of course ! Thank you Hegoi !

I stayed long before covid but never got round to reviewing however the place was a complete shambles. It was December just before Christmas and was some work going on however this wasn't the issue. The main issue was that the staff did not seem to have a clue about anything and then didn't know how to deal with any complaints or anything once something did go wrong. Whilst I was talking to the staff I heard other people also complaining numerous times. Here are my complaints.... I am a lifetime Titanium Elite member, this hotel doesn't seem to do anything for it and being a Ritz Carlton I don't mind so much however I phoned the concierge to ask if there was any lounge access or if I could even pay for it, I was told I was allowed in the lounge so got showered and changed to go down to be rudely told I am not allowed in, when I tried to explain that I had phoned and someone said I could I literally got forced backwards out the door and not even an explanation or apology for the misunderstanding, I then went to reception to ask again where at the same time someone else was complaining about the poor service. I then phoned the concierge again to make a reservation at one of the hotel restaurants which was booked and confirmed, when I went down the place was completely shut and not even pen at that time of year, again off to reception but they didn't seem to care, I then got told that they don't even have a concierge service however I clearly rang someone from concierge or reception who was giving me wrong information and making bookings for their restaurant which wasn't even open. All in all this hotel is by no way up to standard with other Ritz Carlton's around the world which is a shame as it has potential to be great if the customer service was there. The fact I am writing this review a long time after staying but can still remember how poor it was says something. The only positive to take away from it was that the M.B restaurant was great as were the staff in the restaurant. I really hope by now that Ritz Carlton have addressed these issues int he hotel and properly trained the reception staff as this is carrying the RC brand plus is meant to be a 5 star hotel but when I stayed had 3 star service.

I used to spend a lot of time at this hotel, with a lot of great memories between 2012 and 2016 in particular... although I stayed for the first time years before. What makes Abama special are the people, it is a wonderful team of caring and authentic employees who will always remain special in my heart. Although I now live on the other side of the world, I will look forward to visiting again one day in the future. Un abrazo Abama
