I wasn't sure what to expect from a pension as I normally stay in budget hotels, however please don't be put off staying here. Prior to arriving, Caroline the owner sent an E-mail advising on how to find the pension and providing useful information about how to get there from the airport. I have stayed in Alicante several times, so...

We don't normally stay in anything other than an hotel, but seeing the reviews we thought why not, great choice, give this place a go, room's are not large but clean, beds comfy, showers hot , towels clean, great staff and communication, location is good. Outside of your room are things left over from previous guests, shower gels, shampoos, deodorant, even...

Stayed 3 nights. Good communication from Caroline the owner prior to our trip. Ideal location in the old town just minutes from the esplanade; port and beach, surrounded by a good selection of bars. Ensuite room was spotlessly clean and large enough for a short break. Free wifi, fridge for customers use, room cleaned daily. Good tourist info. For €42...

If you want a great central location, in a historic building with fabulous bars and restaurants actually on your doorstep, you can't beat this guesthouse. The rooms are quirky and comfortable - we had two rooms and our kids slept like logs! The owner is delightful and so helpful. Amazing value and beats a big hotel anytime.

I was pleasantly surprised with how modern this hotel is inside. It's set in the old town and looks ancient from the outside, but in a good way! I stayed in an ensuite room, with the bathroom being fully equipped. Every detail has been thought about, even free razors are included! The bedroom also comes with tea and coffee making...

My wife and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Pension San Nicolas. Do not book this pension on the basis that you believe it to be a hotel. The definition of a 'pension' is a hotel or hostel that provides a room sometimes with bathroom but with little or no facilities, and that is exactly...

The perfect pension. I stayed in a spacious double room with ensuiite with a balcony overlooking the street behind the Cathedral. It was spotlessly clean, nicely decorated with cheery prints on the wall. Caroline the host made me feel welcome from the start and couldn't have been more helpful.

This is a cute little guest house, it's only let down its quite warm at night and unfortunately you don't control it,Caroline the hostess does. She doesn't mind putting it on,but she's not there on the evening so if you forget to ask her.... You'll sweat. This is a very clean guesthouse, basic but nice. Any shampoos, shower gels etc...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The pension is a little hotel of 8 bedrooms (4 doubles, 2 singles, 1 for 3 persons and 1 for 4 persons). 5 of the bedrooms have got their own private bathroom and the 3 remaining are sharing 2 bathrooms. The pension is located in the heart of the old town, just behind the Cathedral San Nicolas. It´s next to all the bars, cafes and restaurants. In 5 minutes walk from here you are at the Alicante beach El Postiguet and next to all the site of interests....the port, the castle Santa Barbara, the old quarter Santa Cruz, the main street La Rambla, the theatre, the town hall, the Tram which takes you to the beach of San Juan & Campello. The pension is managed by its owner, Caroline, and its aim is to be as welcoming and helpful as possible offering a great range of tips and advises on your arrival in Alicante. As the pension is next to the night bars, at week ends some of the rooms are noisy but this is perfect for party goers or heavy sleepers! The reception opening hours are 10h30 - 23h00. The hosts are given a set of keys on arrival which allow them to enter anytime...just like at home and that´s the aim of this small place....for you to feel just like at home! ... more   less
