We were in room 2 which had twin beds made into a kingsize- ideal for us as we are both on the large side. Ensuite a bit of a tight squeeze -ladies may overhang the basin with part of their upper anatomy when using the loo- but that is our problem for being large folk! Sandra and Richard perfect hosts,...

Alderholt Mill is in a beautiful spot and has lovely grounds and public footpaths. However, even staying B&B in the owners house (when we have stayed self catering before) you never quite escape the slightly musty and damp smell of the old mill. The bedrooms are quite basic and the ensuite was small. However, we had comfy twin beds and...

Stopped here for a tea break on way back from a walk from Fordingbridge to Hill Cottage Farm. Nice spot on the river in a mill with loads of history. Amazing bit of engineering. Tea and cake a reasonable price. The lemon cake was really good! Would definitely come back and spend a bit longer round the mill.

We were staying with our caravan in the area and stopped to visit on our way back. With easy parking across the road and wheel chair access, a lovely spot beside the millstream. The Miller Richard is a very friendly helpful chap, and happy to explain the mill and it's workings. Items for sale, cakes, and lovely cream teas available,...

I booked this as a surprise for my husband for his birthday. We took our dog and had the best time. The cottage is small and quite old fashioned but really quaint, cosy and quiet. Richard was so friendly and directed us to some great walks. The cottage is great for countryside run routes and dog walks. We rambled the...

Great creams teas and cakes, lovely tranquil location and friendly owners. Interesting for the kids to see the working mill. Only open for cream teas on Saturday and Sunday afternoons in the summer, but a local gem nevertheless!

Lovely location, quiet and easy to relax in. Would definitely use again. Sandra and Patrick very easy to get to know and nothing bothered them. Lovely big bed and room, slept like a log. Lovely garden to relax in beside a small river that presumably was used to power the old mill.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Alderholt Mill is situated on the edge of The New Forest National Park on the Hampshire/Dorset border and a member of the New Forest Tourist Association We are a family run, working mill, offering Bed and Breakfast accommodation for up to 4 guests, in our 1 double, 1 twin/double en suite rooms. We also offer Cream Teas from Easter to end of August, using our own freshly ground wholemeal flour to make our scones. We are surrounded by trickling streams formed by the river Allen, a small tributary that joins the River Avon at the nearby old market town of Fordingbridge. We are dog, walker, cyclist and fisherman friendly, with private fishing available, however due to us being surrounded by water , we do not recommend for families with children under 8 years. Alderholt Mill is perfectly positioned for exploring the South of England with easy access to Bournemouth, Christchurch, The New Forest, Salisbury, Southampton and Winchester. With surrounding attractions such as Beaulieu Motor museum, The Jurassic Coast, The Heavy Horse Center, fishing on the river's Stour and Avon and Salisbury Cathedral to name a few. ... more   less
