This nice, little hotel is a pleasure to stay in with a very reasonable rate. It is conveniently a 5 minute walk from a JR and a subway station. It is just down the street from the station is Tokyo dome and a post office with an ATM for a good exchange rate (max 50,000 yen per transaction). The room...

I like that it is near lots of restaurants. There's a convenient store just right next door too. The room is a bit small, but this is Japan... The single bed is small too *v* There's 2 train station near by. Suidobashi is nearer and Jimbochu is further. Coming from the airport, I alighted in Suidobashi but the stairs nearly...

I really recommend Hotel Niwa. Not only is the location fantastic for those exploring Tokyo (Suidobashi is only a few stops from stations with access to all lines), but it is a very nice hotel. The staff are very helpful and polite, the service even better (do pay extra for the breakfast, it is a great spread and Tokyo does...

I was In Japan with colleagues for meetings at the University of Tokyo. We stayed at the Hotel Niwa on the recommendation of our hosts, as the campus is an easy 15minute walk from their office. I confer with the other reviews: The hotel is very well kept, the rooms are very comfortable, and the staff are very professional and...

Booked three rooms for a week at this hotel. The rooms were a reasonable size for Japan and not too expensive but the bonus for us was the location. Walking distance to plenty of places to eat and a 3 or 4 minute walk to Suidobashi station on the JR line which meant we could go anywhere in Tokyo using...

So asked to upgrade to the next room up which was no problem and was not to expensive. Location 4 stars Staff 4 stars Bedroom 4 stars...

So it is important to note that three underground stations service this hotel which are between a 7-15 minute walk depending on where you want to go. Round the corner there are some good brunch lunch and dinner choices. We went to miyabi bakery for breakfast there which was good. The hotel itself was flawless. Very helpful staff who sent...

Not often does one go back to the same hotel in a city like Tokyo that offers an extensive selection from capsule "hotels" to luxury ryokans. Many reviews have mentioned the outstanding qualities of the hotel. Some other aspects to mention include relative proximity to Tokyo station where the Narita express train makes a stop. Take the JR line to...

Very charming hotel near the train station. They have a very good restaurant on the first floor. The staff was very nice, the standard room is small though for 2 people but very cute and super clean and mostly confortable. I highly recommend.

We were booked in for 3 nights on our first trip to Tokyo at the end of our holiday. The hotel is clean, has nice facilities and a tasteful Japanese garden to admire. Location wise, it was further out than we had hoped, in hindsight a more central location would have been preferable, although it is only 5-10 minutes walk...

Staying in Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda
Ochanomizu boasts its academic foundations starting with Yushima Seido, the birthplace of modern day Japanese education. The area has kept its college town feel with several university campuses. If you head towards Jinbocho, you'll find musical instrument and sports equipment shops, and an area of used bookstores for students and anyone interested in literature and the arts. Akihabara is well-known for its computer and electronic goods stores, and is now hugely popular as the must-visit mecca for people interested in anime and games. Kanda is an office district where you can find loads of reasonably priced izakayas popular with professionals who stop to eat and drink before making their way home.
