I had the misconception that this was more like a ryokan (traditional Japanese accommodation). It's really a basic hotel in an old house with Japanese style beds and floors. Some rooms have shared showers with toilets/sinks in the room, and you can pay more to...More

I paid $180. including tax per night for this Ryokan, which was more a hostel than anything else. I liked the overall feel of the place mind you and I feel that the direction of their approach was sound but the over price warranted a...More

We stayed here just for the experience really which I'd recommend if you've never stayed in a traditional Japanese style hotel before. Room was very clean. We had a private bathroom which was TINY but again part of the fun! Futons and traditional pillows were...More

Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the
Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops
that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest
areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's
Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to
recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh
yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast,
Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool.

Rooms are lockable from inside and outside, and they handle you key for your room. Doors are like any normal wooden door.

I will be arriving from Nikko and have to take the return flight from Narita. Would you recommend this as a convenient place for shopping and seeing the city. Thank you so much for your answer. Vinita
