Just stayed here for one night as my favorite hotel (The Palace Hotel) was fully booked on that night. Although The Strings is a decent hotel, I was a bit disappointed by the room. I got a small room which had a bathroom that could definitely use an upgrade. Room service was okay and also breakfast was good. Staff in...

We had such a fantastic stay at this hotel. It's located right off the Shinagawa station on the top floors of an office building. Given that it is connected to the train station, the location couldn't haven been more convenient. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is a 7-11 at the entrance which is extremely practical as well as a...

Chose The Strings due to location. Flight into Haneda late evening arrival and we did not want a long commute. Read good reviews and knew hotel well connected to major transportation hub. Hotel rates during cherry blossom season expensive but we felt acceptable compared to similar grade options. We prefer modern hotels. Room size ok by Japanese standards. Could have...

Very nice hotel. Might be just a little short of 5 stars, but overall very good. The service was excellent. Room on the higher floors with a beautiful view of the city and Mount Fuji on clear days. Very confortable bed.

We absolutely loved our stay at IC The Strings. We stayed here while on holiday in Tokyo, and found the location to be absolutely perfect. The hotel is so conveniently located, it's incredible. Narita Express, Shinkansen, and the JR Yamanote Line (which takes you to virtually every Tokyo tourist site) are all just two elevator rides and a five minute...

This Hotel is perfectly located for getting around Tokyo easily via the JR line and the subway. The Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the Bubbles Bar was a big hit for us after a busy day of sightseeing. The sight of the salarymen in the mornings and the evenings heading to and from work at Shinagawa station...

I stayed 2 nights at the delux twin room with my daughter. Bed and pillows are comfy. Staffs works great and efficient. The breakfast buffet has the variety and very delicious. Even if this hotel is next of Shinagawa station, the room is quiet. Also, the elevater hall needs the room key for security.

This hotel is literally connected to Shinagawa station - couldn't be any closer to the subway. Also extremely convenient if you are going to Osaka or Kyoto as access to the bullet train is at Shinagawa station! The rooms are decent but you won't spend much time in the room as it is!

I was somewhere near Shinagawa for business and saw Strings by Intercontinental. I have never come across Strings and thought of giving it a try. 1) Access from Narita directly to the hotel is possible. So no hassle to get in the limousine bus and it will get you to the hotel. 2) The lobby is situated on the 26th...

I used this hotel on a family trip, reserving two rooms for four people. The hotel is close to Shinagawa station, which is one of the main hubs of the train network in Tokyo, including the Bullet train (Shinkansen). There are many shops and restaurants in the vicinity, and there is even a convenience store right below the hotel. Despite...

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.
