The location is great. I had the 6 mat room recommended for 2-3 people, the room size was sufficient. Unfortunately the room had a really bad damp smell which we were unable to get rid of. Bed were warm and comfortable.

Dear guest, We want to thank you so much for your stay in Kimi Ryokan with us, and hope you enjoyed your stay and your trip in Tokyo. First of all, we are so sorry for the damp smell in your room. Lovely traditional ryokan. Though the room is small, the beds were comfortable and the room was warm. The bathrooms were shared but there were two showers and two toilets per floor, and both were extremely clean and modern. The shared kitchen and common room had free green tea, a vending machine and a fridge. There was also a traditional Japanese...

We have been here for a week in January, lovely place, very clean, excellent staff and they speak English very well. I would recommend this place to anyone! It's not a 5 star hotel, but there is everything you may need. I will definitely come back here in the future. The location, as well, is perfect, close to the city...

Kimi Ryokan is cheap, and clean, and the location is great : in calm streets but quite close to Ikebukuro station and to many restaurants and other cool stuff. A good basic ryokan with shared bathrooms (standard for a ryokan) and use of a kitchen. Well priced with helpful staff and nice clean rooms. A little hidden away but plenty of signs as long as you follow the directions carefully! Very easy to get to ikebekuru from the airport using public transport. Good value for Tokyo.

Between mid October and mid November my travel brought me to this ryokan 3 times, the longest time being a week towards the end of my trip. It's in comfortable walking distance from Ikebukuro Station, West Exit (if you take South Exit along the tunnel, make sure you take exit C6). There are plenty of konbini nearby, a small grocery...

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighbourhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
