It feels like a regular lodging to see my grandchildren.
Although there are many difficulties, it is attractive at a reasonable price.
Ikebukuro means you can do a lot of shopping.
So tell us what you think of your stay.
The front desk is on the second floor, by escalator.
Difficulty 1 here, there is only one escalator and it is a one-way, to put it plainly, driving downwards in the morning and upwards in the evening, just ask an employee to change direction.
Difficulty 2, WIFI environment is not stable, connect and disconnect, disconnect every 6 hours?
Difficult point 3: Located behind the button body of the toilet washlet, it is difficult to operate.
Good and bad
Free water (PET bottle) available, alarm clock available.
A voice from the hallway, no baggage rack.
【Others】
Ice and microwave on the second floor.
From Amenyuti and other 2nd floor elevator side

I booked this hotel cheaply (for Tokyo) through Expedia. The guidebooks made the Ikebukuro sound like a grim, out-of-the-way working class nowhere, but really it's not much different from the better-known areas of town that are equally easy to reach on the same hyper-efficient train lines. The hotel is about 100 feet from the northeast exit of the Ikebukuro station. There are several big department stores with food halls etc right nearby. There's also a convenience store next door that I believe is open 24/7. I had some train noise in my room, but nothing that really inconvenienced me. The room was certainly small but not obnoxiously so, and who cares since I did not intend to spend any time there. Everything was neat and clean and worked fine. Aside from the train there was no noticeable noise. The Expedia rate included a daily trip to the friendly Internet cafe in the same building. I would recommend this hotel to almost anyone visiting Tokyo.

Managed to find a reasonably priced package on the website so decided to give it a shot! An oldish hotel, nevertheless the room was surprisingly decent in size and stocked with a good supply of toiletries. Only problem was the strong smell of smoke throughout – no non smoking rooms! We chose the superior room package including buffet breakfast and 1 hour internet per person which was 11,550 yen a night for two. Had heard that Ikebukuro doesn’t offer much in terms of attractions, however we found plenty of things to do and the location especially handy, only minutes from a major station.

Very good location close to Ikebukuro station. A quiet hotel. No noises from inside or outside. Helpful and friendly staff who spoke English. Good room size. Lots of hot water in the shower and good water pressure. Comfy beds. The hotel provided a spray in the room with fragrance for clothes which also cleared out wrinckles. Used it every day! Very good AC in the room. There is a washing room with washing machine and dryer guests can use and a smoking room on the 1 st floor. Also 24/7 Family Mart on the 1st floor with ATM for international cards. I wish there could be more TV-channels on the TV or maybe Netflix. I will stay here again on my next trip to Tokyo.

I stayed here for two nights.
It's conveniently located near Ikebukuro Station, so I've stayed here again.

But I won't be staying here again.
There was a knock on the door in the morning, and the staff asked me what time they would like the cleaning to come in.
I was leaving at 12 o'clock, so I asked them to come after that.
I still had time, so I was relaxing, and suddenly the door opened and the cleaning staff came in. I was surprised.
After that, I declined the cleaning and asked them to just take out the trash and towels, but that was really all they did.
They didn't even replenish the coffee. I wish they had checked.

I was worried about when they would come in at night, and I was so sensitive to the noise next door.

I come to Tokyo more than five times a year, and I thought I had finally found a hotel where I could settle, so it's disappointing.

This hotel was in an excellent location - close to major shopping venues and subway station. Plenty of eating establishments nearby and an excellent restaurant inside - breakfast buffet included authentic Japanese cuisine with American variations - remember to request non smoking room AND floor - it took us 3 days to get smoky smell out if our room

I liked this place, clean, neat and the standard rooms are not too cramped, considering they are in the middle of Tokyo. I have stayed in other Tokyo hotels and sometimes you feel like you paid for a capsule, not here, you actually do have two or three feet of floor space (a little more, but you get what I mean). Restaurant is nice but expensive, just like anything else in Tokyo. Location wise this is a great place, some reviews complained of the noise from the trains -- which did not bother me one bit, very well sound isolated windows and walls, so not a big deal. Overall pleasant and I can recommend it.

Friendly staff, excellent location, free internet (if you brought your own laptop)!

The bathroom was bigger than I expected and my room faced the train tracks, but I barely heard the sound of passing trains. My mother is a light sleeper and even she said she couldn't hear the trains at night. The hotel is situated very near to the train station, and shops, department stores and a wide selection of restaurants are within walking distance.

Would definitely consider staying here again if I'm on a budget :)

I agree with other reviews in that the hotel is (obviously) unexpensive and very close to the station. For me, however, it was a nightmare because of the noise coming from the passing trains (and Ikebukuro is the 2nd busiest station in the world!).
I used the hotel just one night to rest from my intercontinental flight from Europe. It was handy to take the Narita Express train to IIkebukuro station (final stop, no brainer) and then walk 2 min. to the hotel....and try to take a nap.
My room was facing the rail tracks and despite how tired I was, it was impossible to sleep. Fortunately I brought with me ear plugs and I had to use them. I was at the 7th floor. I cannot imagine how noisy it may get at 2nd floor in a room similar to mine!
Think carefully, the hotel is cheap for a reason.

Dai-Ichi was a great find ! We were surprised to find a very reasonably priced hotel in Tokyo, and the rooms were large, quiet & pleasant. Ikebukuro suburb is spread out over 2 sides of the JR train line, but the whole precinct is easily reached on foot from the hotel (via underpasses both beside & through the station).I took the recommendation of a fellow reviewer below & printed his directions from the station to the hotel (the hotel is very easy to get to, but a lot easier to locate with them - basically you leave via the east exit, turn left & immediately on your left is a side street which winds you round to the right behind the main street. The hotel is located straight ahead once you've followed the road round that corner). A choice of restaurants in the hotel be I can't comment on either as we didn't try them. A convenience store located at street level below the lobby was very handy !. Plenty of fresh food options were available in the station market hall, however for restaurants Ikebukuro East was a bit light on (a few sushi bars) and we had to walk about 8 minutes to Ikebukuro West for selection of restaurants (including indonesian, french, American fast food etc). Well connected for the airport, bullet train & sight seeing, just about everything is about 20 minutes by train.
