We selected this hotel based on the distance from Ueno station. The location didnt disappoint us at all. If you learn the floor plan of the station, Iriya exit is the one connecting the hotel and the station with the distance of a few hundred metres.

Chose this hotel due to its proximity to the station & its junior suite offers excellent value with generous space & comfortable beds. The hotel pays great attention to details like provision of fresh set of linens & toiletries outside our room even though we had the do not disturb sign. Breakfast is free & we enjoy it as they...

Terrible service. TBH overall service level was fair. But this one rude staff this evening dragged the overall rating to zero. Rude, unhelpful and I would say strong discrimination towards foreigners. Besides that, the room is tiny. I can hardly open my luggage

We stayed here for 4 nights in November. We are a family of 4 and booked a junior suite. The room comfortably slept 4 of is. The bathroom was modern and so much better than the usual small and non ventilated japanese hotel bathrooms. The location near Ueno JR station and also Ueno subway can't be beat. There are plenty...

We needed to stay in Ueno, and chose Sutton Place Hotel. I can't imagine having a better experience anywhere else. The mattress was the best I have experienced in a hotel. As a result, I always experienced a good night's sleep and felt rested. The hotel is spotlessly clean, conveniently located close to Ueno Park and Uneo Train Station. It...

Stayed one night on a layover and had an overall pleasant experience. The hotel is located just 5 mins walk from Ueno station which makes it very accessible. The hotel is quite small and so are the rooms (this is not uncommon in central Tokyo). Clean modern room and bathroom with new fittings. A continental breakfast is offered but no...

The only reason I choose this hotel is because of its superb location and free breakfast. The service of the hotel is bad. The front desk would rather attend to locals and have us to wait for them to serve although we came earlier. The wifi connection is weak.

I have been to Tokyo many times, as travel with family. Its hard to find a spacious room that can accomodate 3 of us. Sutton Place in Ueno is definitely the one you can consider. 30 seconds can get you to the entrance of Ueno station, though you need to walk a couple of minutes to the gate of the...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
