It meet our needs for our first night in Tokyo. Great Location in Ueno and close to the JR and metro stop. Some people may find the rooms small but it was OK for me. Good shower. Reception was polite and helpful and they kept our bags for the day. Did not spend much time in the rooms except to...

The location of this hotel is excellent opposite ueno station but that is the only good thing. The rooms smell of stale smoke and are shabby. The staff are not helpful at all. We requested a room in a quiet location months ago and they did not provide this at all. We were on the second floor facing the road....

Ok straight up this is not the flashiest hotel you will ever stay at. It's a little old , the plumbing is dated , the furniture is worn , and the doors are the height of a hobbit. That being said it is very clean , backs onto one of the largest parks in Tokyo , it is right outside...

I stayed one night in a single smoking room as non smoking had sold out and it was truly dreadful and the bathroom was barely big enough to stand in. After swapping the next night to a non smoking twin room, it was better but still pretty cramped to say the least.

Stayed here for two nights on an Intrepid trip and one thing they always do well is location. Immediately outside of a train station but yet in a good area adjacent to a huge park and pedestrian market area with shops and food. Unsure if this Ueno neighborhood is a hip one, likely not, but it works. The rooms are...

Stay 1 night in this hotel and the room allocated to me on upper floor was cleaned and roomy. A total difference from what i had expected as mentioned from some of the review here. A great location if you are heading to Keisei Skyliner as they are just across the road or probably a less then 5mins walk. Easily...

It was an old hotel but you can get spacious room with twin bed for 2 traveling bags & 2 backpacks. I'm luck to get a room with park view so I can open the door and get outside to the balcony to get a fresh breeze which is a plus side. However they put sofa in the room makes...

Moved from Coco Grand to here. Wish I had not had to. Room and bathroom was larger than Coco Grand, and in the same area. Only 5 mins walk apart. Again, language problems with English labeling. However the first thing you notice is the musky, moldy smell. Not sure if it was from the Carpet or the mattress. The best...

Great hotel if you want access to transportation especially if arriving from Narita airport where the Keisei Skyliner rapid train gets you there in < 45 minutes. If you have luggage on wheel, roll right across the street and relax. Buy the breakfast (the Japanese selection is more healthy), it's a fine deal for the sit down service. Wonderful proximity...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
