We enjoyed a view from hotel room to UENO park. rooms are very clean. Bathroom is a little small but public bath is nice. Breakfast was very good. bed was nice and firm. Location is perfect. Walking distance to attraction in UENO, close to subway station and very quiet location.

Overall Coco Grand Ueno was wonderful. Customer service exceptional. Small boutique type hotel. Great views of the park. Unfortunately we were initially given a smoking room which smelt so much I couldn't stay in there for more that five minutes. We were moved four times over our 5 night stay because of this, which was disappointing. However with this, we...

Honestly, the 'wonderful' comments here prompted me to book this hotel. Afterall, the location was unbeatable. I ended up staying 2nights but i did not really had a 'wonderful' comment to write here nevertheless. Only 200m to the Keisei Ueno station which can whisk you off and fro Narita in just 40min-that was the highlight of my stay. Room was...

The location is good. In short walking distance of several subway stations and train lines. The view from the rooms of the park is a rare treat in Tokyo. Hotel staff were extremely helpful. But I have to mark this down to average as the room is so tiny, even compared to Tokyo standards. Part of this was the amount...

Our stay was interesting as by mistake I misjudged the photo of the room on booking , the room photo was taken with a wide angle lens so on arrival it was tiny , so be aware of what you purchase , But the staff where great, helpful at the front counter ,the breakfast café downstairs is small, so if...

Good location, good service and good equipment. There is a spa facility. I was disappointed with the queue waiting for breakfast (15 min). Breakfast itself wasn't impressive... very small room as for 4* and even smaller bathroom. I didn't like it...

We picked this hotel largely down to the reviews and also we didn't want to be in central Tokyo. On the basis that you will be arriving by train from Tokyo Central, remember to take the Shinobazu exit as this will bring you out under the railway tracks, which is the right direction. Any other exit will involve a longer...

This was one of the best hotels we stayed at during our entire trip! It's conveniently located about a 10 minute walk from Ueno station and right across from the lovely Ueno Park. The staff were very helpful and spoke a lot of English, more than at most hotels. Since we arrived a few minutes before our room was ready,...

We stayed in four different hotels during our trip and this was the best by quite a way. It was just really comfortable and welcoming with everything you could ever need provided - snacks, water, coffee, just about every toiletry imagineable. There was even a foot/leg massager in the room. Our room had a view over the park and the...

We stayed at the Hotel Coco Grand Ueno-Shinobazu for 7D/3N. From Narita Airport, one can take the Keisei Skyliner (40 minute ride) to the hotel. The station is a 5-minute walk to the hotel. There were 6 of us so we stayed in 2 Economy double rooms and 1 zen twin room (slightly bigger Japanese style rooms). The view was...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
