We stayed for two nights on business and had a meal in the pub on the first night, which was great, food was really good for the price and likewise the breakfasts we had. BUT we had room 15, which as another reviewed said is disastrous. Basically its like they have decided to add a few more rooms at the...

This is a very old building so don't be surprised if the floors are a bit wonky, but comfortable bed and good plumbing. Cannot speak too highly of the breakfast - best porridge in Somerset and the traditional English was exceptional. Look out for Robbie - he was lovely and seemed to be doing everything to keep the place running.

Popped into the George on Saturday early morning, had a really good full English cooked perfectly. The service was really good and you could not ask for much more, everything was well set out so you can help yourself juices, fruits and cereals on the side. Highly recommend.

Having booked several weeks beforehand, my wife and I arrived here to find the place in scaffolding and no obvious signage to the car park - turns out that access is via a narrow alley and space is severely limited. Reception was unstaffed on our arrival at 4:45pm and was a complete mess. I summoned the assistance of a member...

We all stopped off at the George for Sunday lunch. You will not be disappointed , the roast dinners are delicious and desserts to die for. Fabulous service, friendly and welcoming. We will be back again. Good children's menu too. This was the best Sunday lunch we had for a long time and beats some of the gastro pubs we...

Whilst I appreciate that some money is being spent on restaurant and bar and is ongoing, it is absolutely no excuse for dirty bedrooms. I was given a different room eventually which was an improvement but still had a damp smell which was surprising as there was no shortage of fresh air from the ill fitting door with a window...

Nice cosy room and good pub too! It was a busy time for them as I stayed during the Bath and West show, but staff remained friendly and helpful. Also good central location. The only downside was that I had dinner here and it was really over cooked. Would stay here again though.

We returned to The George, having stayed before, and found the hotel to be totally refurbished downstairs; it was beautifully done and very in-keeping with the gorgeous old features of the building. All round a great weekend away, food was excellent, catered for everyone including the children; I can highly recommend the porridge for breakfast, best I have ever had!

A buzzing little hotel in this friendly tiny town in Somerset. We took our ten year old daughter and she was warmly welcomed. The bar was busy but the waitress wasted no time getting us a table and taking our orders. The marlin was very tasty, as was the tofu, while our daughter had a starter as a main. Very...

First time visit here, so glad we found such a gem of a place in a beautiful setting, dog friendly too! Menu at first looked (almost) too good to be true, but excellent, inventive, well presented but without trying to be to clever! Lively bar, and very amenable staff. Superb breakfast to boot! Downside? They stop serving food early (8.30)...
