My partner & I dined here in August 2016. The food is not in any way 'Cheap & Cheerful'. In fact it is at the top end of the market from a pricing point of view but I could not fault the quality or the service. Although the restaurant was busy we were served quickly. The atmosphere is friendly and...

Lovely old style hotel with long standing connections to Le Mans 24hr race. Room large, comfortable with great bed. Staff delightful & helpful. Restaurant sadly closed, but brasserie open. Food excellent. Had booked parking but left car opposite hotel in free parking in centre of square. Attractive little town with lots of bars, restaurants & shops.

My daughter is doing a student exchange at the University of Maine in Le Mans. My husband and I went to visit her in November. After our stay we spent a few nights at this recommended hotel. We were blown away by the generosity of the staff and the fine dinning found at this hotel. Our room along with the...

For many years, under the old French management and under the current English management, upwards of 10 friends and I have booked a table for lunch on the Friday of the Le Mans 24 hour car race in June. I always make a point of re-booking as we depart after lunch, following it up with an email on my return...

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. It is such a shame when loyal and valued clients use TripAdvisor to vent a specific frustration that we are trying to resolve, as its irreversible and somewhat disheartening to a team that genuinely try very hard year round. We are under huge pressure from all sides and your facts are...

Stayed for 2 nights, based on a recommendation. A great and inexpensive hotel in a pleasant location. Nice feel to the place, particularly if interested in motor-racing. Rooms in annexe newly renovated and particularly good value with aircon. Good restaurant. Did not check pool and garden, but hope to stay again in summer months.

We come here regularly on our way to and from the south, and stayed there twice in the past 2 weeks. The welcome was as always friendly, it is so nice to be recognised by Sally and Paul, as well as Cristophe in the bar and other members of staff, and treated as friends rather than just guests. The rooms,...

We visited the Loire in a classic car and due to its connections with Le Mans this hotel was therefore a must for us. I don't think we've stopped raving about it since! From the booking process through to our stay the staff were very helpful and welcoming - especially Kristoff who has worked at this hotel for more than...

So my family (wife and two kids) and I took a road trip around Western France. Hotel de France has been on my bucket list as I am a hopeless petrolhead. If you are after the motorsport history woven into the hotel then you won't need this review to convince you to go, however if you are not a petrolhead...

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel on our way down to the Dordogne. Room was good ,well appointed and very comfortable, the pool was OK, certainly warm but barely deep enough. Excellent location and very pleasant staff. The only criticism I would have is that the food, while being good was rather a limited menu and rather...

an amazing place to stay on our way down to Charentes Maritime. Very friendly receptionist, beautiful and very comfortable rooms with fans and a brilliant pool. We had drinks in the busy bar and dinner in the hotel both of which were great. We will definitely be back, what a find!

With a sun drenched terrace, a superb restaurant, bar, inviting swimming pool and gardens that back onto the Loir River, the hotel serves as a comfortable and relaxing base from which to explore the countless delights this region has to offer. The Hotel de France, famous for its long association with the teams, drivers and cars of the Le Mans 24 hours race, overlooks the main square of the charming town of La Chartre-sur-Le-Loir, in the Sarthe department of the Pays de la Loire region in north-western France.
