Nestled near wildlife havens, Sepilok Forest Edge Resort earns praise for its rustic charm and comfortable, though slightly dated, rooms that offer a clean and cozy retreat. Many guests appreciate the friendly staff and the value offered in its delicious dining options, while noting that the alcohol may be a bit pricey. Despite some mentions of slow mealtime service and a lack of in-room WiFi, the resort's unique lodgings and essential amenities like pools and air conditioning are popular among travelers seeking a natural escape.

This is a nice Resort set down a track about a 10 minute walk from Sepilok.
The villas are ranged around a hillside location, and are spacious and comfortable. The bathroom we had was a bit tired, and the extra outdoor shower looked a bit worn out. There are a couple of trails which made for a pleasant walk, and a small pool to cool off in.

The staff were all very friendly, as well as being knowledgeable about the various birds that appeared.

Food was excellent, perhaps too plentiful, but prices for beer & wine were very steep (especially compared to lodges down the KInabatangan River).

Overall, a very nice place to stay within the Sepilok area

Relaxing stay at the beautiful Forest Edge. Waking up to sounds of the rainforest, breakfast in stylish open restaurant, exploring nearby wildlife conservation, dinner & drinks below the stary sky and enjoying the friendly service. Perfect escape from KL. Loved Sabah

Absolutely gorgeous setting with friendly staff and kind owner. We experienced a warm welcome; they were accommodating and helpful with our room change request from two double rooms to a family room. Some considerations for improvement: we would have expected a more ‘finished’ bathroom, which was made up of concrete, very humid and had large holes in the ventilation grilles, making it easy for jungle guests to walk in (in our case a massive spider, but hey, this is their territory). Little information was provided about sights, transport etc. We would have also loved to know that wildlife is often seen at the report so, unfortunately, we missed an orang utan with child visiting early morning which we were really bummed about. Maybe we missed it but we didn’t expect the pool to be shallow. We would recommend this for a stay in Sepilok.

I loved staying at Forrest edge. The room we had (one of the glamping villas) had a private pool and was spotlessly clean with great air conditioning. We felt very close to the jungle which was exactly what I had wanted. I agree, breakfast isn’t great, but the evening food was good and all served in a beautiful reception area where you could spot birds and lizards. My kids loved it. Short walk from the sun bears and orangutans. I’d highly recommend the trips - particularly the night walk at the rainforest discovery centre, the Kinabatangan river trip and the fireflies cruise - the latter of the 2 involved getting dinner at some small local establishments with excellent food - in places we wouldn’t have dared to stop in.

We had a lovely stay at SFER, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The onsite restaurant has an extensive menu and the food was delicious for a reasonable price. Breakfast was also delicious and included a hot and cold buffet. 10-20 min walk to RDC (recommend the night walk), Orangutans and Sun Bears. Rooms are basic (but you're in the rainforest!) and provide everything you need, including a kettle and minifridge! Comfortable beds and lovely view from balcony. Would recommend this place and hoping to come back in the future!

The resort is super convenient to the Sun Bear Sanctuary and the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. We had no trouble getting Grabs at any stage to go further afield. We stayed in the superior chalet, and it was well appointed and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful, including helping us get a treasured possession home which was left behind in our room. The setting is very peaceful. The restaurant food provides a good range of options and at reasonable prices. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

My wife and I loved relaxing here on their large porch, restaurant, in the shallow pool and on our cabanas porch between trips to the nearby orangutan center and rainforest discovery center. Just a 15 minute walk to see the orangutans and sun bears and an 8 ringgit grab ride to the rainforest place. A full half hour ride to the labuk bay probiscus monkey preserve which was easily our favorite attraction here . We enjoyed spotting red leaf monkeys and pretty birds on the property and were told an orangatang briefly swung by one day we were here. The outdoor shower is fun but only trickles out of the bucket. One particular member of the staff was enthusiastic to help us spot primates.

Stayed for one night before visiting orang-utan and sun bear centres which are practically next door. Good variety of food both western and Asian reasonably priced. Drinks available at reasonable prices. Rooms bit dated but clean and comfy. Private verandah overlooking the jungle indie de and outside showers and nice bathroom. Pool available for use which looked clean but didn’t have chance to use it.
Bring mosquito repellent and wear long sleeves if you are prone to being bitten - although the restaurant and balcony area was cooled by fans and not many around.WiFi available but only in the restaurant area.

It is comfortable and you hear the sounds of the forest and have a green outlook from your chalet. I liked the quirky outdoor shower area but be aware that it is a bit of a walk on uneven paths from some of the chalets to the restaurant. Food is tasty & ok value at the restaurant but alcohol seemed expensive. I always found the staff friendly and they were happy to transfer our bags to our chalets. Wifi only worked at the restaurant area.

We stayed for 3 nights and loved this place. The lodges are rustic but very comfortable with air conditioning, the staff are friendly, the food is tasty, and the location is perfect for visiting the Orangutan & Sunbear sanctuarys, and the Rain Forest Discovery Centre. We went on day trip to the Kinabatangan river (organised by the lodge) and saw orangutans, monkeys and elephants. The absolute highlight though was seeing a huge male orangutan enjoying the fruits on the trees above the lodges and then swinging down across the lodge roof back into the forest. An amazing experience we wouldn’t have had if we hadn’t stayed here!

Hello Vicky So we had some cash when we arrived. Almost everywhere cards are welcomed. We hired a private car through our front desk, and found atm’s in town. It might be worth a google to see if any exact locations are available near by. Enjoy your stay, we just loved it.

Yes, we were given water on every form of transport( boats vehicles etc) then in our rooms which was replenished every day. We didn’t need to buy any at all in Borneo. You could also fill your own container In restaurant area.
