We travelled as two families with children. Excellent location, within walking distance of the Orangutans and Sun bears. The food was particularly good, and the setting perfect - amongst the jungle. The staff were also really helpful and accommodating.
My wife and I have just spent a week at Sepilok, and the Forest Edge Resort is where we stayed. We have had a wonderful stay, The staff here are amazing and always happy , polite & so efficient. The food is excellent and very well priced. Offering lots of choices . Our tours where all organised by the hotel . We enjoyed them all. You are in walking distance of the Orangutans and sun bears . And a £2 cab journey from the Discovery center. They also organize trips to the Proboscis Monkeys, and different River trips . We also arranged a trip to Turtle Island, it is quite pricey but a life changing experience, totally incredible. The Rooms are fairly basic but very comfortable with AC and Fans . Plus you have your own balcony. The dip pool is great also after a hot day . I would…
great rooms, good food, staff fantastic and orangutans appear on your front veranda, be sure to visit the sun bear sanctuary as well, it's sad to see what the human race is doing to these helpless animals!!
Great location, stay here if you want a rainforest borneo experience, downtown is too busy/noisey. Friendly staff and good food (breakfast isn't all that though tbh). Lots of couples (most chalets seem to be designed that way) but still family had a great time (family's should book large 2 bed chalet, cheaper and more convenient). We went with 3 kids (13,10&5), they had a great time living in the chalets. Location was walking distance to Sun Bear and Orangutan centres. Need a taxi to RDC. No wifi but that was okay as we wanted to be disconnected.
After diving in Mabul, and three nights in Sukau jungle this resort was beautiful. Easy walk to the sun bears and orangutan sanctuary. The villa we booked slept 5 and was up on the hillside overlooking the restaurant. The food was good and reasonably priced. Would definitely stay again.
Ideally I’d rate this a 3.5 star if I could. Great location in terms of proximity to the orangutan rehabilitation centre and sun bears as you can walk there. Rooms fairly basic ( we didn’t bother to upgrade for our 3 nights)... perhaps we should have, but we planned to be outdoors more than anything. Staff friendly. Breakfast is pretty basic. Wifi only in the common / restaurant area. We had to leave for Selingan island for an overnight stay after staying one night, but were coming back to resume our Borneo eco tour trip, staying for 2 consecutive nights. Unfortunately the staff could not store our bags- service was not provided as there’s no lock up facility. It was never promised but thought I’d mention it in case anyone is planning on doing the same. The pool is tiny and…
This place is such a gem, you really are sleeping on the edge of the rainforest yet in real comfort. The staff are excellent, so friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is included in the room rate and was great every day, it even included freshly cooked eggs to order. And the big bonus is that you’re only a short walk from the orangutan and sun bear reserves. The rainforest discovery centre is a short taxi ride away too. Stayed for 5 nights and wish I’d stayed longer!
Loved it here. Staff are lovely, food is great and the location is perfect to visit the Orangutans, Sun Bears and Forest reserve. Everything within walking distance and perfect if you went to get away from the hustle of the city. The accommodation is clean and tidy, and what I would expect from this style of place. Don’t turn up expecting a five star hotel, but come and wash away the stresses and enjoy the jungle life
We stayed here with friends recently and had a very enjoyable time. The chalets are fine (if a little small) and you certainly appreciate the air conditioning. The setting is just lovely - forest around you, and well-maintained grounds within. There is a very small plunge-pool which is very popular. The staff were excellent - cheerful and efficient, and we all thought the food was very good indeed.
Stopped here for 2 nights to see the Orangutans & sunbears on our trip around Burneo. It's a great blend of rain forest lodge and fantastic hotel. You're just a easy 10 minute walk from the Orangutan Rehabilitation centre. All the rooms have air-conditioning and showers (we opted for the indoor shower) you'll definitely need both after a day in the rain forrest watching the Orangutans & Sunbears. The staff are friendly and easy going and the general feel of the lodge is nice and relaxed. But, by far the star of the show has to be the restaurant. It is amazing the food is easily on par with any 5 star hotel. Ordering an exceptional meal & relaxing with a beer is a great way to finish the day.
