Nestled near wildlife sanctuaries, Sepilok Forest Edge Resort is often lauded for its prime location and charming, rustic atmosphere. Guests commend the friendly service, despite occasional slow meal times, and find value in the reasonably priced meals, though some find the alcohol costly.
The hotel's cleanliness and amenities, including the inviting pool and air-conditioned rooms, receive high marks. While the accommodations are generally celebrated for comfort, a few guests suggest the rooms could benefit from updates.

Detailed Reviews
We were only there one night, and arrived relatively late in the day (already dark). When we arrived, having specifically ordered a double and a twin, they had allocated our teenage kids a double bed, for some unknown reason. So it took a while to sort out and thankfully they had a twin available, otherwise it would not have been good. The place is a little dated, but just for a night to go to Sepilok, it was fine. The food in the restaurant was a little random, and breakfast was fairly average. At dinner we got our main courses before our starters! It's fine... but not sure I'd stay more than a night that's convenient for Sepilok Sanctuary.

Great location to visit orangutang sanctuary and Sun Bears (totally recommend both - amazing!). This is a quirky, atmospheric jungle stay….dip pool quite dirty, maintenance needs attention and walk ways a bit dodgy in the rain. Meals in the evening really good. Breakfast was awful. Staff lovely. Strange cash deposit requirement for room breakages!

A beautiful location and great staff. Would highly recommend the hotel to anyone. Great location for visiting the Orang-utan rehabilitation centre or the Sun Bear conservation centre. The outdoor shower was unique and fun to try. The accommodation was very clean and the staff both friendly and welcoming. A definite for anyone visiting Sepilok.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We had 1 night in a standard chalet, a 2nd in a deluxe chalet. The difference was vast - go for deluxe if you can. Toiletries are provided. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was reasonable. The choice for lunch and dinner was varied and the quality good. The restaurant area is really lovely.
Very convenient to orangutan and sun bear sanctuaries, a walkable distance, but not advisable in the dark.
We had a family of macaques playing outside our room - such a treat.

Great location. Fairly simple room. Restaurant fantastic in terms of food, location and view! Easily walkable to various parks. Staff nice and helpful if you ask. The monkey park is somewhat disappointing, we found it artificial as well as a bear park. The Rainforest discovery center with the canopy walk is recommended. Get there early otherwise you won't see enough!

We didn’t expect much when booking this hotel as we knew it would be basic but our stay exceeded our expectations. We stayed in a detached family lodge with two bedrooms which was spacious, well laid out and clean. Having an outside bathroom was an interesting dimension but it added to the jungle experience. Breakfast was basic but sufficient. We could not fault our evening meals and they were very reasonably priced. Very close to the Orang-utan Santcuary.

Great location 15 mins to Rehabilittion centres.
Room little dated but ok with big comfy bed
There was a resident bat above the front door who could poop for Borneo. Again not a problem to us (even when it pooped on wife's hand opening the door but if things lime that bother you then you are in the wrong location.
Food in the restaurant was OK for 2 nights but would be a struggle if staying longer.
All the staff were very friendly and talkative if on rare occasions they get distracted at the expense of filling breakfast food trays and tea pot.
Only negative availibility and price of a bottle of wine. No white wine, only one type of red left and expensive for where it is located.

Lovely helpful staff. 10-15 minutes walk to the conservation programmes for Orangutans and Sun bears. Very cheap taxi to the tree canopy. Beautiful setting built into the rainforest. I suggest two night stay. You'll love it.

What an absolutely beautiful place. The food, accommodation and most importantly the staff were first rate. It's within walking distance of the sun bear centre and the orangutan rehab centre. We even had orangutans use our roof as a walkway between trees. I can't praise the team at Sepilok Forest Edge Resort enough, I'm sure you'll have a lovely time of you visit.

Leamington Spa, United Kingdom8 contributions3 helpful votesHello - We are visiting shortly - just wondered whether there is somewhere nearby we can get cash out? Or js it better to bring cash with us? Also, can we pay at the restaurant by card? Thank you
Hello Vicky
So we had some cash when we arrived. Almost everywhere cards are welcomed. We hired a private car through our front desk, and found atm’s in town. It might be worth a google to see if any exact locations are available near by. Enjoy your stay, we just loved it.
Yes, we were given water on every form of transport( boats vehicles etc) then in our rooms which was replenished every day. We didn’t need to buy any at all in Borneo. You could also fill your own container In restaurant area.
