This is a perfect forest retreat for those who want to be close to the Orangutan and Sun Bear sanctuaries as they are only 10-15 minutes walk from the resort. It’s a series of rustic chalets set on the edge of the rain forest. We had the 3 deluxe chalets for the 6 of us. They’re in various places around the site but not too close together so you have lots of privacy. The food at The Nest restaurant on site is absolutely superb and seems to be a real ménage of east meets west cuisine, all at very reasonable prices. As per other reviews this is no super-swanky hotel and the “pool” is a very small splash pool. None of that matters as you’re here to see the amazing wildlife which is very close by. Check the feeding times for the Orangutans as that’s the best time to visit (we were

We just had a winderful time in this lush gampling villa, with our own private pool, the stars at night and the sound of nature. Excellent service from the friendly staff, and the place is just 5 minutes to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabiitation Center and 10 minutes to the Rainforest Discovery Center Park, both emjoyable visits to Mother Nature.

We loved the hotel. The staff are really friendly and nice, the rooms are beautiful and the jungle edge setting is breathtaking. The restaurant serves pretty good food and the beer is cold but at 200MYR a bottle the wine is overpriced. Sadly the pool was out of action when we arrived which was disappointing, but it is in walking distance to the Orangutan sanctuary and the Sun Bear sanctuary too- The price is very good also

We had booked to stay here in June. We cancelled in April due to covid. Cancellation policy was full refund if cancelled 3 days in advance. They tried to then alter their policy and say it was only 50% but I had original booking form. I still have received no refund 4 months later and they have made many excuses. I have now passed this over to my credit card company as fraud. Wouldn’t recommend.

Lovely rustic chalets with 'magic taps' and lots of wild creatures that can be heard at night. Chalets all have a private verandah. Pool is not really a swimming pool, far too small. Staff very helpful. Internet only available in the restaurant.

Having visited the Danum Valley prior to coming here I had my reservations it would live up to my “jungle experience” expectations. However, it soon surpassed them. The chalets are great and tastefully decorated. The resort is within walking distance to the orangutan sanctuary and if you don’t feel like walking it’s very easy to get a grab (Asian version of Uber). The receptionists were great at organising trips; I’d highly recommend the river cruise. Would highly recommend staying here!

We loved our stay at the Sepilok Forest Edge Resort. We were in the superior chalet, which was beautifully decorated and far more spacious than we needed. I absolutely loved the outdoor bathroom (we had an indoor one as well!) The resort is in a great location in the jungle, within walking distance to Sepilok Orangutan and Sun bear conservation centres. It was well maintained and beautiful surroundings. The resort has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Breakfasts aren't that great, but evening meals were good.

The resort is super convenient to the Sun Bear Sanctuary and the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. We had no trouble getting Grabs at any stage to go further afield. We stayed in the superior chalet, and it was well appointed and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful, including helping us get a treasured possession home which was left behind in our room. The setting is very peaceful. The restaurant food provides a good range of options and at reasonable prices. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

Nothing better than relaxing on the resort restaurant deck and watching the evening sky and listening to the sounds of the jungle after a great day at the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and going out to the very entertaining proboscis monkeys at the late afternoon session at Labuk Bay. Cold drinks and an excellent menu based on local ingredients capped off a great day away from the 'hustle and bustle' of downtown Sandakan! Nice rooms and very helpful resort staff.
