Birdsong is a beautiful B&B with amazing views from both floors and the viewing deck. *The Arenal Volcano is dormant and not flowing lava at the time of this post* The second floor has a full size kitchen, outdoor shower, Jacuzzi, and glass windows all around. The drawback to this floor is that the kitchen is used by staff to... More

The Birdsong B and B is in an excellent location. We were able to take advantage of the area and would love to go back to the area! The house is situated near the Arenal Observatory which has an excellent but demanding hike as well as smaller less strenuous hikes. It is also located near a swinging bridge park and... More

Allen is a tremendous host, the views are fantastic. But, here's the rub. Having spent 5 nights at the Birdsong, I feel two would have been plenty. The entire area is impossible to experience from one location, and the entire area deserves to be experienced. I spent two days driving to Nuevo Arenal to try to get a feel for... More

Once in awhile you get a family that does not know how to travel. this was the case with these people. They spent an entire day traveling to my place and when they were within 500 yards they got very uptight & never even made it to the house the first night. They were to spend 5 nights. Of course... This was our most favorite stay during our trip in Costa Rica. Allan has a very nice place and is a great host. If you want to get off the beaten track - this is the place. Birdsong BnB has great views of the forest and nearby Arenal volcano and lake. Some activities you may want to consider ($Adult/$Student): Cerro... More

Looks like the other reviews have covered it all, but every bit is true. Went with my girlfriend for two nights, wish we had spent the whole trip there. Beautiful property, isolated but only a short drive from all the Arenal activities. Alan is great host, interesting guy, and incredibly helpful-the less you plan ahead the better as he'll help... Our family of four (daughters 12 and 14 yrs) stayed at Birdsong for three nights as part of a month long trip through Costa Rica. We stayed in the upstairs area, enjoying the absolutely stunning views of the volcano, hills and forests, birds and luxurious ammenities. Alan was a great host, and lots of fun to talk to. He had... This was the perfect location for our honeymoon. The B&B overlooks the volcano, cool weather, quiet, surrounded by nature, secluded waterfall within hiking distance, friendly host (Alan), wonderful chef (Fabrizio), jacuzzi, outside and inside showers, 3 walls of the bedroom are windows with great views, nearby ziplines and hot springs...it was exactly what we were looking for. Our stay at Birdsong was nothing short of amazing. From the views to the solitude to the service and cleanliness, this place is to be commended. Allan, the owner, is one of the nicest and most welcoming people I've meet in a long time. And your personal cook (breakfast is included), Fabricio, is both a gentleman and fantastic cook. To... We stayed in the upstairs unit for 2 nights. The property is quite impressive. We had the place to ourselves, except when Fabricio came to make us a delicious breakfast each morning. It's a very large space - I believe it's where Allan lives when it's not rented out, so it's a bit like staying at a friend's house when... More

This gem tucked away next to the national forest is the perfect spot to both relax and enjoy some of the local 'thrills'. The views from the windows on all sides is wonderful - with the rain forest, the lake and the volcano right outside your window. Allan (the owner) is friendly and very helpful - a great tour guide.... More
