We were so very very disappointed with this hotel. On arrival we had to wait over an hour in reception as our room was not ready. We were also concerned that there were two buses of teenage schoolchildren staying there ,so not the quiet, peaceful place we had expected. We specifically travelled here to see the Quetzals and to take the bird tours...

This hidden treasure is located in San Gerardo, a lost and hidden mountain valley in between San Jose and Osa. The hotel is at the end of a 10 mile long gravel road. It offers a friendly service, great food, ( oven baked trout and other mountain specialties ) and beautiful spacious mountain room, very spacious and coz. The area...

This hotel is hard to figure out. The setting at the end of a steep, narrow road, is lovely. The central garden is well-maintained and full of birds, but it feels artificial, like a little city park set down in the wilderness; the driveway and forecourt are dusty and scruffy. The main building is modern and seems to want to...

The hotel by itself deserves 4 points. The location at the end of the village road is nice and secluded and the rooms comfortable if a little uninspiring. The heater was a nice addition. The soundproofing however is not great and sounds can be heard from next door neighbors. The real let down however is the restaurant. The included breakfast...

A long drive down the steep and narrow road into town, this place was worth the visit. The room had a rustic comfort to it, with a nice porch for watching the sunset and relaxing. The best part of this lodge, in our opinion, is that it is at the end of the road, which meant it was just a 5...

We stayed here only for one night. Getting there is a nice challenge to start with. Steep going down with lots of u turns on the wat to getting there. This area is well know for a very good change to spot Quetzal's, one of the most beautifull birds you can find on our planet IMO! the hotel itself then.....

This is a cozy family run business with Ildi the owner taking care of clients herself. The lodge is located at the end of the gravel road coming down ( Literally ) from the main Panamerican highway, Preferably a 4X4 vehicle, although sedan is fine too. 2 nights stay in a large cozy wooden build cabin. The food is great,...

A welcome change in temperature from the humid 30's at sea level. Beautiful valley and birdlife. Quetzal quest successful. 2 nights enough to do the highlights locally. Unfortunate to arrive in mid-refurbishment of the bar/dining area, but we felt the staff went out of their way to look after us with no detriment to our stay. The chef was fairly...

The staff at Hotel Suria were most hospitable and very accommodating. Members of our family have special dietary needs and the hotel staff exceeded our expectations in helping us. The grounds are lovely, the mountain views are captivating. The accommodations are a bit rustic but quite comfortable and fit in the environment very well. PIn addition the hotel's birding guide,...
