We visited Paraíso Quetzal to do some hiking and bird watching. The staff were really nice and helpful. The food was very good and the cabins nice a clean. We would highly recommend that you stop for a visit here if you are in Costa...More
I can not say much about staying at the hotel because I didn't spend the night, but from what I could see the rooms seem to have a nice view and I can imagine the cool weather makes it a very soothing and relaxing/ romantic...More
We arrived for two nights, included was a Quetzal trip in the early morning. We liked our two little houses and the main house with a wonderful fire. It was pretty cold outside. The restaurant was good but the service was a bit slow. And...More
Nice place with very helpful and friendly staff. During the rainy season there is a lot of fog, but on sunny days, you get an amazing view from the restaurant and the bungalows.

Stayed two nights in this lovely family-run place, where wooden cabins are spaciously set out in the steep forest and gardens, you can birdwatch from your own window as hummingbirds, flycatchers, woodpeckers, thrushes rustle around the trees outside. The lodge organises a range of bird...More

Happy New Year to you as well. We were four adults traveling ages 48 to 66 and did not experience any headaches during our 2 day stay. We did feel the altitude when walking uphill from the cabins to the lodge feeling slightly more winded then normal but recovered in seconds and was not a big deal at all. We also live close to sea level and researched the topic prior to booking our stay. Enjoy you time there, it is an amazing place particularly for children. It can be quite cool up there, be sure to bring warm clothes.

Our cottage was wonderful, but steep down the hill. We travelled up and down only by 4WD car. About the crib I don't know. About Opal and the access I think I do know. If you are a good hiker the addition of a one year old will not be a problem or matter. It might be more about the grandpa...;-). A stroller will not work. I do too agree with the advice to get a cottage close to the main building. This is a family operated place and I am sure they do everything to make you feel comfortable.
