I stayed 2 nights at Trogon Lodge after making last minute arrangements to escape hurricane Otto further north. I arrived much later than expected but was still greeted upon arrival by staff with the lights in my room already turned on and a hot water bottle in the bed. The grounds are beautiful and immaculately maintained. Nestled up in the...

Wow what a paradise! Only 2 hours to SanJose but what a jewel. Cabins are basic but had all we needed - showers, heaters( you are at 9,000 feet), great porches with stunning views, lots of space and very comfortable beds. We went on the morning birding tour at 5:10 am and it was worth it to see the resplendent...

A very special place tucked in its own mini-valley near the bottom of a perilous road, complete with flowery gardens, a mountain stream, elegance, atmosphere (even at 7000 feet), unique birds and their own rainbow trout (served for dinner). The double-cabins and other buildings are scattered carefully around the hotel grounds, linked by beautifully crafted pink stone paths. The buildings...

Dear stephane360, I am very happy to know that you enjoyed the experience at Trogon Lodge and for your recommendations about the heating. We keep wood fire stoves at both the Restaurant and the bar, and also have warm blankets at the bar, but we will surely consider your observation. We look forward to your future visit! Muchas gracias!

We stayed here for five nights in January 2016. “Maybe board games and cards could be available in the front office for check-out? There isn't too much to do at night and other families hogged the one pool table available in the bar. Offer smaller meal options for lunch. This was a ton of food and expensive, although the quality was amazing and so fresh. All the staff was super nice, overall our trip was great! ”
