I stayed overnight at the hotel whilst as I was attending a funeral in the local area. The hotel was only really open for key workers or those with 'essential reasons' for travel, so it was very quiet indeed and many of its facilities were not open due to this. Pros: Location: The hotel is beautifully situated next to the Teign estuary - very pretty. I enjoyed a lovely walk from the hotel into Newton Abbot along the water's edge. There were lovely views from the the bedroom window across the estuary. Parking: Good parking facilities directly outside the main door to the lodge. Bed: Very comfortable mattress. Cons: Heating: I switched the heating on when I arrived. I can completely understand leaving the heating off if a room isn't being used, but it would have been nice to arrive to a warm room. I sat in the room with my coat on for the first hour until the room warmed up. Bathroom: No soap provided in the dispenser for the sink, so had to use body wash from the shower to wash my hands. Also, only a little left on the loo roll and no extra loo roll. The bathroom radiator (heated towel rail) wasn't on so the bathroom was chilly Litter: an old empty plastic milk bottle on the grass verge outside the window made the view a little less impressive. Check in: The welcome could have been a little friendlier/warmer.

Booked a last minute stay at the hotel at the end of October and cannot recommend the hotel enough. All staff were polite courteous and friendly and put myself and my family at ease the minute we walked through the door. Hotel was very clean with lots of hand sanitizer around and safety precautions in place due to the pandemic. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. We will definitely be staying again soon.

We stayed here for two nights over half term with the kids. Although the hotel was a bit tired looking and in need of a refresh, the staff were friendly and welcoming and the beds were comfy. Both dinner and breakfast were fabulous. Great steaks and the best full English I’ve had in a while. My son enjoyed the huge kids portions. Matt in the restaurant gave us great service. Availability for the swimming pool was limited (understandably) but the kids got to swim and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

This was our second visit to the Passage House Hotel and once again we had a very enjoyable overnight stay - this time in one of the rooms in the nearby south lodge building. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and it is very Covid safe, with masks worn throughout by staff and guests and a one way people movement system in place with plenty of hand sanitizers available. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice on offer. There are large parking areas outside each of the hotel's buildings.

Excellent parking, not the warmest of welcomes but the restaurant was very nice. Bar staff very friendly and good service. Room very basic, bed comfy. Bathroom again basic, no toiletries provided so you need to have brought your own. Room and bathroom in need of upgrading, decor sad looking. Bathroom in need of tlc. View from room spectacular, watching the sun come up over the river very beautiful. Good one night stop off. Not lots do to this time of year.
