Situated in a lovely quiet location this hotel is a good base to explore from. The rooms were basic but clean and good value for money. Food was good, particularly breakfast. Would recommend for a short stay. The surrounding area has stunning scenery with lots of places to visit.

Excellent short stay in the Cross Keys where we were so well looked after by the staff even in the absence of the owner. Would thoroughly recommend as a great base to explore this outstanding area. The food was excellent and our room so quiet and comfortable.

Arrived here a little flustered having forgotten the name of the hotel I had booked, I received a lovely welcome. The bar area is quite small, but then you realise that there is a separate evening meal area and a different room again for breakfast. Upstairs the rooms were lovely and well prepared. Mine had a double bed, tea making...

This is a traditional rural hotel in a great location for exploring the surrounding area, being on the edge of the fabulous forest park. Susan is a good host and made us feel very welcome. Our room was very warm when we arrived and the bathroom felt like a sauna, but this was easily sorted by just turning the radiators...

Stayed here last night, fantastic food and really welcoming landlady, Susan. Loads of information about what to do, wish we'd booked earlier! And we got to stay in Guy Martin's room....he stayed here whilst filming his hovercraft attempt. Not surprised, lovely area and lovely people. Will come and stay again as we've not got to see everything.

Stayed one night as I was visiting the Galloway Forest Dark Sky park. This hotel is well placed for access to the park. I was unable to check in earlier due to getting stuck at a local Observatory, but the landlady was very understanding (although I should have called first, my fault!). Parking could be a little challenging I expect...

Arrived here late on into the evening. Parking wasn't too much trouble although we got the last space on the street. We didn't use the bar but going through it looked cosy indeed. Room was very pretty and although you could describe it as small it felt nice n cosy. Breakfast was very nice. Wonderful host who provided for my...

Stayed here last weekend. Small B&B Hotel with lovely staff and terrific meals. Fantastic Neaps and Tatties (local Scottish dish)! Very clean and welcoming we had a fantastic, romantic evening of star gazing, when we saw many shooting stars (found out it's a European dark sky park). After a porridge and full cooked breakfast, we set off rested and determined...

There was no heating on in the hotel and the bar and restaurant were closed. Room was cheaply furnished and beds were uncomfortable. TV was about the size of a postage stamp. Detritus from previous guest found in several drawers. No toiletries in bathroom apart from liquid soap. For some strange reason the bathroom was carpeted. When I tried to open...
