Good food. Friendly staff. The room was nice and was situated in the gardens. The prices were very reasonable. The pub itself had a good range of drinks. The pub is well situated in a quiet area but close to places of interest. Be sure you know where you are going if you are not familiar with the country lanes... More

We've eaten at this lovely old pub several times now and it's always been excellent. The steak night on Monday evenings (two steak dinners and a bottle of wine for £23) is a bargain and very good quality. Staff are great too.

Before I start, don't get me wrong, we have stayed here before and although the accommodation was not the cleanest we have stayed in, it was manageable, however, on this visit, standards have definitely slipped. We stayed for 3 nights, after the first night, the bed was only just about covered over by the staff, after the 2nd night, the... More

In this pretty, flower bedecked, low beam pub deep down in Dowlish Wake - one of the prettiest - and probably the quietest - vilages in England -Sunday lunch (£8.50) at the New Inn is a culinary treat. It's the chef's attention to quality that impresses. The horseradish sauce is freshly made, as are the especially light, crisp Yorkshire puddings... More

The new inn is situated in a beautiful little village down the road from a cider farm. We was greeted by a very friendly barmaid on arrival and after having our drinks made we took a table outside in the lovely garden. We had 3 courses using our tastecard and the food was your standard pub food which I was... More

This is my go to place, when in the area, visiting my auntie, as her dog goes with her.Friendly welcome and service, decent selection on the menu plus a specials board. My auntie's scampi, chips and salad was a good size portion, more than she could manage. My pork loin in mushroom sauce, off the specials board was very good, though I... More

Although visited on a Monday lunch time found the 'pub to be busy. Food arrived freshly cooked fairly quickly. The ham was moist and succulent and was a generous portion. Well worth trying a pint of the Butcombe Ale. Made to feel welcome despite being strangers to the pub. Price of meal and drinks was very reasonable. Thank you and... More

Had a lovely impromptu drink and snack here in the beer garden. The garden is gorgeous, the sun was out, we're all feeling good. Had a great time. Food isn't really anything to write home about but perfectly fit for purpose. Would definitely come back
