This was a lovely Bed and Breakfast run by a delightful woman. I was made to feel right at home. Custom's House was comfortable and very welcoming. The owner was a font of information about the area. The breakfast was very filling and delicious - a full Scottish breakfast with a lovely selection of fruit. What a wonderful respite from...

I visited this B&B for one night 11 years ago cycling E2E and was made to feel so welcome, I've always wanted to return. This August I did with my husband and grandson. It was all I remembered and more! really comfy room and fantastic hospitality and breakfast from Mrs McDonald. The rooms are not ensuite but this is more...

Mrs. McDonald is an exceptional B&B proprietor! She made us feel so welcome and Customs House was very clean, comfortable and cozy. The breakfasts were outstanding with always more than enough choices to eat. She even went out of her way to search for us in the town with her own umbrellas to ensure we stayed dry in a sudden...

We spent two nights in this very traditional B&B, Ann McDonald's house. A very warm welcome from a lovely lady who has been doing B&B in this harbour front house for many a year. Spacious room, view of the harbour and sea, shared big bathroom. Great selection of tea's, coffee, biscuits in the room. Beds were comfortable. Well priced and...

I spent two very comfortable nights at this house. There was a warm welcome from Mrs McDonald and I was shown to a very spacious and well equipped room. There was a dressing table, chairs, double bed, TV, kettle and even full size packets of biscuits. There was a terrific view over the harbour from this 200 year old property....

JoLoney you said it best. Ann welcomed us so graciously, kindly and warmly. What a wonderful woman and what a wonderful place to just happen upon. We were spoiled rotten and made to feel like honored guests. Thank you Ann for everything!

Arrived at this bed and breakfast after recovering from a scam involving a rental car on a sabotaged road and a money-making tow truck driver. Ann was so warm, genuine and helpful that we recovered from this incident in her care. Her profession is completed with love and her presence alone radiates some kind of ethereal comfort. What this place lacks in modern amenities it more than makes up for in warmth of welcome and the host that is Anne Macdonald. The setting overlooking Helmsdale harbour means any overnight stay here is truly memorable. An unexpected treat was to discover that Helmsdale is the home of La Mirage, the curiously named restaurant specialising in fish and chips,...

We have been traveling through Europe for the past 7 months and we have met many wonderful people along the way, but Anne, the owner of the Customs House, is near the top as far as her hospitality and generosity. We have two young kids and she gave them each toys to take with them, made them sandwiches for the...
