Generally nice hotel. Nice clean rooms with a comfortable bed and staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel manager was lovely. There is a large relaxation room with saunas which was great. The hotel is well designed/decorated.
There are very limited options for good food in the area, so you may find you will be stuck eating at the hotel every night for your stay. One particular frustration was the lack of printed menus to be able to know what was planned for dinner each night and how much it would cost. Each night you can choose to have the three/five/seven course menu with pairing wines however they won’t tell you what is on the menu and how much the drinks cost. It felt awkward to ask each day. My suggestion to the hotel would be to print menus each day so your guests can choose whether they want to dine in, how many courses and decide if they want to order certain drinks depending on the price. We had a surprise when we got the bill to see some of the sparkling wines are charged at €15 per 0.1L per glass. They also had some repeat items from the previous day on the menus. We asked to swap items on the set menu due to allergies and intolerances and they were accommodating, however we did find it a bit awkward to ask.
I would also suggest clarifying if breakfast is included in your stay on arrival, we were surprised to find on checkout that we were charged €29per person per day which felt expensive for what we had. The breakfast is nice but choice is limited compared to other 5 star hotels.
Other suggestions for improvement - there is no kettle provided in the room or bottled water each day which would have been nice to have. The remote control for the TV also did not work. The hotel also does not have AC, which wasn’t a problem for our visit in May however I can imagine this would be a consideration if you were visiting during the summer months.
Overall, a pleasant stay but with noticeable areas for improvements Overall a nice stay but definitely some room for improvements!

As a travel agent I travel a lot and this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. I cannot say anything negative about this beautiful hotel. Upon arrival you will receive a super friendly welcome, the welcome drink is also a really pleasant welcome. Everything is clearly discussed. The rooms are even nicer than on the website. They are very neat and very comfortably furnished with many details. In the evening we took the menu with matching wines, time was also taken to provide a lot of explanation. It was a delicious meal! We also used the sauna, which is very neat and very relaxing. Too bad we only stayed 1 night, much too short because the surroundings are also beautiful!

Note: this review concerns the restaurant only, we didn't sleep in the hotel. We took the 5 course set menu (surprise menu) and enjoyed every course of it. Some courses were more creative than others. Our most loved course was the agnolotti with fermented chestnuts, tomato water, cracklings, and pickled wild-garlic flowers. The happy and talkative sommelier paired all courses with glasses of local wines, full of taste, and not just safe selections. All staff were friendly and thoughtful. Prices of the wine parings varied between 8 and 13 euros per glass. We would surely recommend the restaurant!

Website is a fantasy. This is a small B&B with a small restaurant and a small sauna room. It’s on a very busy road extensively used by biker groups. Dead opposite is a biker pub with large outdoor eating space for barbecue/hog roasts and is extremely noisy until very late at night. Immediately next to that is a gas station. The noise from motorcycles pulling in to refuel is very intrusive. All traffic noise is amplified by the valley so you can hear all traffic coming from miles way. Every noise from next door rooms and balcony plus from hotel restaurant terrace is clearly heard including talking on phones, chatter from terrace seating areas and bodily noises from your neighbors. Our view directly at pub afforded us zero privacy unless we closed curtains on our small shoe box room. All food (dinner and breakfast) was mean in portion size. We had to constantly ask for extra bread, coffee etc. interactions with staff seemed largely scripted and aimed at upselling - particularly wine and excursions, bike hire, wine tasting. Our one night stay with dinner cost almost €500 in the worst room on the property. Hotel is massively overpriced. At least 3 of our fellow guests were overheard stating the same. Although everything is small and squeezed in the materials used and finish is of good quality and clean. The water pressure is good and hot. Presentation of food was good. The surrounding area beautiful.

Dear Sandra K, many thanks for your visit and a published opinion. We are sorry that you experienced your stay in Vila Planinka as you describe it. On the day you stayed with us, a traditional ethnological event Ovčarski bal took place in Jezersko which attracts thousands of visitors, which we have no influence on. Otherwise the place is calm and tranquil. Your claim that you paid 500 Euros for one night in the cheapest room is not true. The portions of the meals are according to the applicable norms. The rastaurant is ranked among the best in Slovenia. Of course, the staff offers to guests additional activities that are available, and it is upon the guests to decide whether to choose them or not. Despite what has been written, we wish that your staying to Jezersko and Slovenia will remain a fond memory.

Vila Planinka went above and beyond our expectations. This hotel was both comfortable and luxurious, rustic and indulgent. Everything was perfection from arrival to departure. We were greeted by friendly staff who whisked our bags away and welcomed us to the beautiful outdoor patio to relax with Slovenian sparkling wine while they checked us in and gave us a lay of the land. The staff was so kind and were genuinely interested in our travels and interests. We were given a generous room upgrade that was absolutely gorgeous. The real star of our room was our huge wrap around private balcony with breathtaking views of the Jezersko valley. We had dinner al fresco and were so pleased with the attentive and thoughtful staff. The setting, food, and wine really showed us the very best of Slovenia. After dinner, we used the sauna to further relax and unwind. The spa facility is very high-end. There are nice walking trails around the hotel which allow you to see more of the area. Breakfast offerings were not extremely extensive, but what was offered was all very good.
We will absolutely be back to Vila Planinka to enjoy more of their impeccable hospitality and beautiful scenery.

Top quality hospitality. A truly restorative experience.
Beautiful hotel, set in a stunning location, with staff who can’t do enough for you.
The interiors are luxurious and connect you to nature. We loved the view from our balcony room and the private sauna was a really nice experience. During our two night stay, we had a brilliant massage, walked and ran to the nearby lake and hired a mountain bike for a cycle into Austria (e-bike required unless you train regularly due to the elevation).
The food and wine were top notch. We had the four course set menu for dinner with Slovene wines, recommended by Vanesa. We didn’t need to remind any of the staff about our dietary requirements (we emailed in advance) which was very reassuring. The staff also prepared us a picnic style breakfast when we had to leave very early one morning. Our only criticism would be the lack of menus for food and drinks - it left us wondering how much the final bill would be. However we certainly didn’t feel we were ripped off. There are menus on the website, so we had a rough idea.
Big thank you to Vanesa, who provided us with some superb recommendations for restaurants and wine bars at our next stop in Ljubljana.
We can’t wait to return.

Vila Planinka is such a special place - the hotel, restaurant and staff are all worthy of the 5 star rating! We spent the first half of our trip to Slovenia visiting Ljubljana and other attractions and wanted to end our trip relaxing somewhere a bit off the beaten path - we couldn't have asked for a better place to unwind than Vila Planinka. The accommodations are large but still feel very cozy and we had an incredible view of the mountains right outside of our bedroom window. The scenery surrounding the hotel is absolutely breathtaking and the town turns off all street lights at 10:30pm which makes it perfect for stargazing. Highly recommend taking the electric bikes out to explore the area - there's a casual restaurant/bar nearby where you can sip hot cocoa overlooking the lake/mountains or you can bike to "Jezerska slatina", a mineral water spring with healing properties. Finish the day with a delicious dinner at the hotel's Michelin rated restaurant, paired with incredible Slovenian wines selected by Marko, their super friendly and knowledgeable sommelier!

Not too big hotel, beautifully situated with enough attention to guests. Restaurant we really recommended just like the sommelier Vanessa who showed you Slovenian wines with great enthusiasm and knowledge. Had a very nice time with a genuine feeling of wanting to go back there again.

Very friendly staff. Even though that they don’t offer lunch to external guests, they prepared very delicious menu. For the starter, local meat and cheese plate. Main dish meat and vegetarian option and big bowl of salat. Good wine options. We were missing only something sweet at the end. But we were full from the menu, so there was no need. Prices for food are reasonable, sparkling water expensive. Many thanks to the waiter for pleasent experience!

We have just had a wonderful 4 night stay at this hotel. As soon as you enter the hotel, you immediately feel relaxed by the calming and beautiful decor along with the warm welcome by the staff on reception. We stayed in the junior suite - a beautiful room with 2 balconies and stunning views. An added bonus was the fact that the sauna was just a few steps outside of our room. The food and wine at the hotel was really good . You can choose from the taster menus or go a la carte. All the waiters were very knowledgeable, friendly and witty - we felt very looked after . The reception staff were very helpful with suggestions for days out. We have been fortunate to have stayed at some amazing hotels - this one is definitely up there as one of the best ones.
