The hotel itself is very nice, spacious rooms which are very well cleaned and presentable.
Food is fine, nothing so shout home about but nothing to complain about either.
Drinks are very poor, wine is not good, whisky was unrecognisable, cocktails were mediocre, go down the the beach and but cocktails - management note... this is what they should be like.
Charging for slushies, Ice cream, pool table is a bit naughty really! There are I've creams (tubs) but come on, the kids see the exciting ones and you have to pay!
The staff were generally all nice and accommodating, the wearing of face masks everywhere was a major pain but fully expected and the staff tried to enforce it as best as they could, generally everyone was ok with this but we all made mistakes and the staff did dress you down if you did make mistakes.
The pool area is the letdown here. My daughter had a mermaid tail which was not allowed in the pool, nor were inflatables, balls etc. There water park over the road was available to us but drinks and food had to be paid for.
The location is nice but far too isolated with little or no choice to get out for a walk and experience other bars, restaurants etc.
If we were not in the Pandemic and all the hotels here were open I would have loathed being here. Luckily, it was it was so very quiet, not any guests at all and the break was a nice one. You could see that management responses to points raised by guests in 2017 and 2018 were replied to by management saying they would consider these points but even in 2020 they points had not been resolved.
Tip: entertainment area is not fit for purpose for a complex so big, golf area is twice the size of seating area and this was full in the evenings even with many of the hotels shut and no where near capacity those that were open.
Would I recommend no
Would I return no
Was it bad no
Could it be improved, yes and then many no's would be a yes.
Check in was "okay" but was interrupted 3 times to help other guests. Not a great start after a long journey.
I was charged adult prices for my 15 year old despite him having no access to alcohol and other adult ammenities. Be mindful of this.
The room was very, very basic. Yes, there was a hairdryer and fridge, but although the tv had 50+ channels only 1 was in English. Also for a 4* property to charge extra for wifi in 2020, is pretty dire and unexpected. Also, across Europe I would expect coffee and tea making facilities in the room. As it was, I had to wait until we went down for breakfast to have my caffeine injection for the day.
The cleaning staff were amazing and the room and common areas were spotless.
It was often very busy at mealtimes, I would imagine in peak season it is even more crazy. Although the food was okay, it wasn't really any better than their 3* property, so don't assume it's an upgrade to stay here.
The balcony had 2 chairs (for 3 guests!). A lounge chair would have been nice.
Although when we booked we were told there would be 3 beds, one was a sofa bed.
I am an avid gym go-er, however the gym was a farce. 2 broken exercise bikes, 1 spin bike, 2 elliptical machines (both broken). No treadmills, no kettle bells. Shocking to call it a gym, really. There were two new'ish machines for the upper body.
Lastly, our room smelled of smoke each day because guests on either side smoked on their balcony. They should really designate a section of the hotel as non-smoking. This ruined our enjoyment and prevented us from sitting on the balcony.
The pool area was nice but quite small so it would be overcrowded if the hotel was even half full. The nearby beach has nice silky black sand and decent selection of water sport services. You can see the neighboring town and a beautiful sunset from there. The waves can be a bit strong sometimes but nothing too dangerous. The waterpark entry being included in the all inclusive package is a nice touch, it's a good option for children.
The food selection was limited and often it was either too bland or too salty. They tried to switch it up a bit everyday, but it was mostly the same dishes. Hygiene and Covid measures were good, although they let the kids roam around freely.
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful most of the time, only the restaurant staff was a bit grumpy when things got really busy. The people working at the reception were great, you can always go to them for help. I had great experience with Linh especially. She gave me good tips and advices on where to go and what to do around the area and the island.
All in all, don't go there expecting a luxury hotel and services, but you'll get what you paid for. Because of the Covid situation, the hotel is relatively empty so it has a nice quite and calm atmosphere, good for a relaxing and lying around soaking in some sun.
We late arrive after 7pm and one of receptionist offer Free late check out so we agree , the day before leaving we go to reception and confirm offer but one of worker says that we need to spend €66 to keep room for 5h or we need to check out at 11. We got 2 kids so we wanna stay but same receptionist change his mind and told me that our room will be rent so is no chance to keep room ( in COVID 19 well done ,just 3h need to clean and disinfect room after 4 people ) . We book holiday and all was fine until we notice that for breakfast, lunch and dinner you got chips, pizza ,pasta with 3 sauces, hot dog and hamburgers !!! If you wanna fish or pork chops/ beef you need wait 5 minutes because chef got time and he not hurry not all. Day by day was same food , heavy oily and nothing special and common with Spanish food. Complain 3 times , nobody care . Drinks/cocktails in pool bar are so poor .. without alcohol. More people choose bear or wine ( but that was disgusting to see flys sitting on dispenser and limes ale inside your glass disgusting 🤢 )
Air conditioning in room is can’t be setting without remote control , we try to open balcony door but from both side we got smokers so like you can imagine you need to choose smell toxic cigarettes or stay with rooms without went) .
Bathroom shower screen was leaking so after 4 showers you need dry floor to avoid any injuries , so we loose ale towels .
Pool is small and lifeguard more care about mums rather kids . So remember be close to your kids .
Stuff in restaurant remove and take your dirty plates woth fork and knife , so if you not keep your dirty CD-ROM and knife you can’t eat more .
Kids without parental control lick spoon with sauce for taste, take chips with hands, spill good on floor , staff do not take any actions ,but if you ask for table in outside oooo there is problem for prepare table for you .
Don’t get me wrong I love animas but cats coming to restaurants and beg for food ? Kids touch animals and next touch spoons , and food 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ And nobody care about it .
Hotel is good looking , that’s all .
Better spend more money and book another hotel.
Never ever again .
Nice quality all inclusive buffet with food to meet most peoples’ tastes and needs.
The New Years dinner was lovely with lots of effort put into it.
The main pool is a good size with lots of loungers and a bar & snacks close by. Towels are usually out by 7.15am so set the alarm if you want a good spot (I guess this is the norm anyway now).
As the resort is in a valley, the Sun comes over the mountain at one side and then retreats over the other side so you get less sun than an open / beach location hotel.
Aqua park is fun but be ready for the salt water as it can take you by surprise. Minimum height for slides is mostly 1.2m.
Check out the beach and water sports as they are great, if a little expensive.
The resort entertainment is ok but can be quite loud and yobbish at times until around midnight. All the room’s balconies face into it so you can’t really escape the cheesy music and terrible singing…
The room is very spacious with a lovely balcony overlooking the ocean and pools, however the bed is like sleeping on a blank of wood.
The food! Well the breakfast is ok, apart from having coffee in plastic cups. The snack bar, if you like stale rolls/bread then you will be ok. We’ve eaten once in the evening, the food was warm with not too much variety.
The pool bar is again ok, but the queue to get a drink is normally five or six people deep and it’s all local drinks included in the All Inclusive.
There is no entertainment in the actual hotel, you have to walk to the central area and if you like Butlins, think Butlins but in the sun.
The reception staff on arrival were friendly, but that’s about as friendly as it gets, the staff in the bar and restaurant just grunt at you.
If you have children there is everything here but you will need money as a lot of the extras are not included.
All in all if I had been staying here for a week, i would have booked myself into another accommodation.
The rooms are huge and very clean, there is a lot of storage space and plenty of hangers for all clothing. The beds are really comfy and pillows were great for me as really soft.
You get a large desk with information around hotel and a telly also just above.
Also somewhere to store your suitcases so they aren't left on the floor also makes room look a lot more tidy.
The bathroom is super clean and very modern it was lovely, they also provide toothbrushes and few more ammenties in the bathroom, our room had a bath and shower so was brilliant.
The resturants is very nice you can choose from outdoor or indoor dining and there is a lot to choose from, sometimes a little repetitive but it's just like any other allinclusive but food was really yummy.
Pool side has great views as it's on a balcony so can see out to sea. There are plenty of hangers around for everyone and there is a separate bit for the children's pool so really safe.
I couldn't fault the staff as I never had anything to worry about or ask so for me as friendly as they should be.
The only thing that I would mark down is I spilt a drink on our bed in the room and thought with me having it visible the maid would have changed the linen but this was still on the linen for 2 days until I requested it to be changed, but apart from that nothing to fault at all.
Me and my partner had a lovely time and would recommend.
You also get full access to the Aquapark across the road.
We visited Puerto Rico by taxi (12 euros)but it was slightly disappointed as it has been developed beyond all recognition. We also visited Puerto Mogan and had to get the free bus from Taurito to Playa Del Cura and then get another bus from there to Puerto Mogan (1.40 euros). I don't like heights and we had to go over the old road high up the mountain. Again Mogan has changed but still had its feeling of pleasantness especially around the original harbour.
Unfortunately, we thought we had the return flight checked in luggage, but were told that it didn't come in until May, but not a problem for us as check in at the airport was exceeding quick and easy.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and thanks to all at the hotel.
The location is very pretty, over looks the sea and in a very quiet bay. There isn’t much open during the day so if you are not all inclusive may struggle. They have a supermarket opposite and at night more shops open up.
The rooms are huge and have very big balconies! I have noticed some ‘pool side’ rooms, these seem to be very limited but ideal for anyone struggling with mobility or larger families. I would recommend a room on a high floor for the views, however the lifts are VERY slow and therefore if you struggle to walk or in the heat maybe request level 2/3.
All areas of the hotel are really clean and have hand washing at every lift and bar. Outside of covid I imagine the restaurant is much nicer, currently you have a time slot for every meal time which works well, however does limit you to one hour and there can sometimes be queues for the hot meal area. The staff work incredibly hard and are very on the ball with social distancing.
The whole resort is wearing face masks 24/7 so bring plenty with you. The only exceptions are once you are at the beach/when you are seated by or in the pool/or when you are seated at a bar or restaurant. Because of this it feels very safe.
The hotel is partnered with a water park opposite which is amazing for families and children and has lots more seating and pool space than the hotels own pool area.
There is entertainment throughout the day and a bigger show on an evening with lots around the stage for children and families to enjoy (rides, games etc). If you are worried about travelling here don’t be! My only issues are that there aren’t enough sun beds around the pool. The beach is quite small, but if you are looking for a chilled place to relax for a week this is a perfect hotel! (I would recommend mainly to families)!
