My family stayed at Le Meridiane for a week before my mother's destination wedding took place in Vasto. This place is definitely not your normal beach resort. Upon arriving, we we're welcomed by the staff with open arms, and brought to our rooms which we had requested an extra cot to accommodate our larger family size. We had 3 rooms in total for our large family and friends, all of which we equipped with kitchen ware, a fridge, and a moka pot to make espresso in the room. The restaurant had a great selection of pizzas and pastas to choose from, although personally, I preferred the pizzas. With a mall about 2 minutes away, you could easily buy your own food and cook a meal yourself in your apartment, or even barbecue using the central fire-pits. As for lunch, I enjoyed the pastas with sugo di pomodoro (tomato sauce), while I found the sugo di burro (butter sauce) a little bland. The staff are absolutely terrific in service, enthusiasm, and friendliness. Although I do not speak Italian, I was able to communicate with many of the staff members, and they even tried to help me learn some Italian. The owner graciously allowed us to use the restaurant for space to accommodate the wedding guests after the ceremony before the dinner which took place in Vasto. The owner is extremely friendly, and I had many great conversations with him during my stay. The entertainment consisted of beach games, Zoomba for kids/adults, water aerobics, and shows/games that were put on every night. For adults they allowed dancing till around midnight every night as long as people are there to dance! They also have a large court that you can play tennis or soccer on, not to mention their large pool, and cart ride service to the beach. Over all, I thought this place was a fanastic getaway for a family looking to explore the Pescara/Vasto region of Italy, with some need of down time to relax. I would definitely come back here to this not so normal Italian resort!

We are a family of four (kids of 6 and 9) and back from a two week holiday at Meridiane. All in all we enjoyed our stay very much in this small apartment hotel in a relatively little known and undamaged corner of Southern Italy. The atmosphere in the establishment is very friendly, warm and family-like thanks to the hospitable owners (Signorini family) who treat their guests well with nice surprises such as evenings of simple but excellent Italian cooking 'on the house'. We did our own cooking as we were not aware of the half pension possibility of a very good restaurant in the Meridiane. If we go next time (quite likely) we will opt for the restaurant for the comfort. The entertainment or offer of sports possibilities is understandably not Club Med level but the enthousiastic 'animatrici' entertain children and adults with songs, dance, quizzes, pool sports and games while on the small and children-safe beach you get to use canoes and pedalos for free and play tennis against a small fee. The apartments we saw (3) were all spacious, not luxurious but correctly equipped (kitchen ware, hair dryers, fridges, airco, safe etc) and clean. One thing we missed most were mosquito nets that would be more efficient than the lanterns in the rooms. As a Finn I know how easy it is to protect a house against them. The second thing was more developed beach services (e.g. water sport rentals) that are not yet as well developed in the beach of Marina di Montenero (locality of Meridiane) as e.g. in Sardinia or Rimini. That said the lower cost of life (big difference compared to Northern Italy and our current residence in Belgium), sympathetic people, and beautiful unspoiled beaches in the nearby Petacciato (10 mins drive by car) make up for those shortcomings. Can be recommended particularly for families with children. As in most parts of Italy, you get much more out of the visit if you speak at least a bit of Italian. I did not test how well the staff at Meridiane speak foreign languages but have the impression that some of them do (at least Mr Signorini himself). And finally the tornado; the 40c° heat wave ended with a sudden tornado that swept a large amount of beach equipment into the Adriatic sea...
