We received a very warm welcome on arrival and were informed that it was the oldest castle in Germany although it felt quite modern with the contemporary fittings around. It’s a very striking property in the middle of a small town. Rooms are at the back of the castle in a new modern annexe and we had a large, contemporary...

I really loved this hotel. Schloss zu Hopferau is the oldest castle in Germany. It's located close to the Neuschwanstein Castle. I had initially planned to stay in Füssen but the hotels available were quite expensive. For a drive that is 15 minutes longer, it was definitely worth it to go to Schloss zu Hopferau. It feels like it is...

Full of Old World Charm but not close to anything other than Neuschwastein Castle and the Austrian Border. We booked this hotel thinking that we would be staying in the castle, however our room was in the new addition that has a lift and stairs. There are only a few rooms which is nice because you get additional attention, Upon...

I think the title says it all. Beautiful place to spend a weekend. Lots of history (get a tour of the castle while you are there). I also need to say that the restaurant is phenomenal. We had 8 meals there and one was better than the next. Definitely will be back. Rooms are a bit small (except 2 or...

A very impressive hotel experience. The property itself is amongst the oldest castles in Germany and the approach to the hotel and the grounds are outstanding. Inside, the hotel is an awesome mix of both old and new. There are many wonderful old touches, combined with new flair. The surroundings are dark and quiet, the room is warm and comfortable...

While planning a family vacation to Munich and the surrounding areas, we stayed at Schloss zu Hopferau and could not say enough good things about it. From the rooms, to the local views, to the excellent service, everything was above and beyond my expectation. We did local sight seeing and had assistance from the hotel staff that made a world...

Schloss zu Hopferau is a beautiful hotel from the outside, as well as inside. The staff are kind and happy to help in whatever way possible. The rooms are extremely clean, fitted with lovely en-suite bathrooms. However, the rooms are quite small and seems to feature lots of velvet, as well as plastic furniture. This is not a pleasing contrast,...

We found this hotel last minute, a few hours before we arrive during our drive from Berlin, it's definitely a gem near Fussen. It was a great call to stop in Hopferau, in this Schloss. The best thing about this hotel is the preserved castle in front of the hotel rooms area, it's a point of visit itself. People were...
