This is the best place to stay!! We got a bungalow for two for 20.000 kip (might be a offseason price). You won't find bungalows closer to the river! Then there is Mama Lao, the best person in the world! She will help you for everything and she simply saved my trip.

Visited September 2012: one of the first place we came across after the boat dropped us off. Run by a friendly American couple. The bamboo bungalows are basic but perfect for a budget traveller. There's a good restaurant next door and it's not too far from the village. Great memories and would love to go back

The restaurant here wasn't selling food when i was here. The room just has a bed and a fan. My bed didnt have a proper mattress, just a bunch of square pillows lined up next to each other. The bed was quite hard. The bungalow was only 30000 kip. It is right on the river and has a balcony and...

After crossing entire Lao, I finally arrived in Nakasang to reach Dondet Island. Located on the east cost of the island, Paradise Guesthouse is Lao run, helped by Lance and Donna from USA, great musicians and wonderful people. My favorite moment of the day was waking up just before sunrise, to transfer myself in one of the several hammocks installed...

The bungalows were rustic but that's the charm. The family that owns them is big and friendly. The foreigners that run the place seem chill but are strangely aggressive and accusatory. Our stay was lovely but we left feeling violated and confused. We heard them badmouthing other guests on multiple occasions. Keep your distance from the seemingly "friendly farang" and...

I enjoyed my stay at the Paradise bungalow and contained some nice assets: the bungalows are basic, BUT with a very comfy hammok on the Mekong river, for the price you pay you shoulden't expect more. The food is very delicious, cooked by the host family. You have the host family, which is ver welcoming and has two super cute...

While on the bus from Pakse we bumped into Lance & Donna, two longterm residents of Paradise, who led us to these cosy bungalows which sit on stilts right above the river. The bungalows are tiny and very sparsely furnished (just a bed and a fan) with individual balconies and 2 hammocks each. On Don Det you are unlikely to...

We stayed 3 nights on the island. The stay at "Paradise" Bungalows was great. Riverfront Bungalow, Moskito-net, hammock. Super Laundry Service. Very fair Room Price. Best pancakes we ate in whole SEA, "The place where Travellers take Vacation"

I'd heard of the wonder of Don Det from friends so came prepared to stay at least 5 nights. It ended up being 17 nights instead and that had a lot to do with Paradise. I stumbled across it by accident but had to wait two nights before a room came vacant. I see there are various mixed reviews but...

I initially went to Don Det planning to stay a day or 2, 6 nights later i was sad to be leaving. The rooms are basic, i had a dog in mine, came back to get something and the mangey mutt strolls out. Loved having a hammock outside my door right above the Mekong, blissful. Having to trek to the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Lovely wooden riverside bungalows with hammocks and the best view of the Mekong on the island. While the bathrooms are shared, we have the most beautiful facilities in all of SE Asia. During off season the restaurant is closed. During season, visit the Paradise Restaurant, specializing in delicious island fare, such as Lentil Curry Pumpkin and Pumpkin Burgers. The French claim we have the best crepe's in all of Asia. Voted #1 kitchen by people who have eaten here! The menu includes an inland information section and outstanding map of the islands. Paradise is run by the lovely Lao family who owns it. Lance and Donna, the managers at Paradise for 4 years, have moved down the path and built their own home. ... more   less
