No surprise that The Datai gets so many enthusiastic reviews, it really is a paradise where you can escape the noise and pollution of the city and just immerse yourself into an amazing Malaysian nature experience while being pampered by the first class service and facilities of this famous resort. We enjoyed beginning the day with breakfast by the pool, watching the hornbills flying though the surrounding jungle along with the regular dusky leaf monkey visits. The attentive and professional service of Saifulbahri and the rest of the team made for a great start to the day. Of note is the high standard of the beach facilities, the quality of the SUP boards and especially the windsurfing gear is excellent. Staff overseeing the beach and gym activities are always helpful and enthusiastic. Despite the resort being quite busy when we stayed it wasn't too difficult to book equipment almost immediately and wandering down to the beach early in the morning to paddle in the bay was a real highlight. This is easily the best activity centre I've experienced anywhere in the world. We sampled all the restaurants but our favourite was the Gulai House where Edy always welcomed us and served up delicious Indian and Malaysian fare. Sitting here in KL and writing this short review I really wish I could transport myself back right now. A big thanks to everyone at The Datai for spoiling us with such an unforgettable experience.…
We had an enjoyable return visit to Datai just before the recommencement of MCO; and the resort did not disappoint with the service and the attention to detail; meeting yet again our expectations set from our previous encounters. It is not easy for a resort of such calibre to be consistent each time we visit and pander to each guests’ expectation, or in some instances as illustrated on trip advisor, their idiosyncrasies. It is however not a resort for everyone, it is far from the madding crowd, a distance from the night life of Langkawi and therefore more suitable for couples and families who enjoy nature, a privately beautiful beach and who are happy to spend their precious holiday being pampered and bask in a less hectic and chill atmosphere; it certainly provided the perfect resort for what we enjoy. A standout feature of the resort is the Nature Center with numerous activities, handled by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable group of guides and facilitators. The surrounding flora and fauna is amazing and is the most attractive distraction from the luxuries of the resort. Like any other luxury resort in Langkawi, the accommodation, concierge services, food/beverage and spa services were excellent as always. We did notice that there were a lot more families with young children compared to last year but being a rather large resort, there will be so many areas one can retreat to for peace and quiet. The Datai is a resort that we would definite return to. Those who appreciate a service that is attentive but not intrusive in comfortable luxury; will never tire of Datai. …
We came there after Ritz Carlton and felt the difference in approach instantly. Unlike Ritz where every step you are making you need to pay for it, here they offer a lot of things as included, and it makes a lot of difference. Kids up to 12 are foc when they eat with you, you get the full minibar except mini alcohol bottles set free of charge and only pay for restocking, you can use beach equipment for free (I windsurfed), they bring you water, complimentary drinks and shots in the beach area. All that you expect from a hotel of this kind. Villa is amazing, you live like in paradise, highly recommended. A champagne at the breakfast is also a very pleasant note. Some minor things to fix from my experience : fancy light controls in the villa are really confusing and at certain combinations stop working. There's so many of them and it takes a lot of time to figure out which one to use. Also some of the ked lights in the ceiling burnt out, you need to replace them. Wifi in the villa was not working well and was inaccessible if you lay in the balcony. I was staying in villa 24.…
We have plan for about a month to stay at The Datai and it came true in Jan 4th 2021 after the CMCO was uplifted. We booked 7 rooms and stayed the from 4th Jan till 10th Jan. It was fun and full enjoyment for the whole family, we spend time at the beach kayaking, board pedalling, sail on hobie catamaran golfing at the near by golf course and playing tennis too. The beach activities are free of charge. The food was great and the staff was helpful and friendly. Not to mentioned the room are spacious and nicely laid out with big bathroom. On the 10th Jan during departure at the lobby a lady staff approached my wife asking her whether the beach bag she is carrying is from the room as tho my wife took the bag without informing the hotel. My wife got annoyed, as she bought the beach bag form the The Datai boutique a day earlier and beach bag bought from there comes with a tag and in the room it doesn’t as this is to differentiate between the two. This incident actually spoils the whole week experience that we had, if the staff know about their product such an embarrassing experience won’t had happened. Even tho she apologised my wife feel humiliated.. Zulkefli Awang…
You can't go wrong with this well established property in Asia since years. Well maintained, great staff. Special thanks to Edo for stretching session at the fitness and the Lebanese Bakery Chef for his delicious bakeries every morning. A luxurious staycation away from the city.
