Ok it does not have a pool, as my family remind me, but this is a fantastic place to stay. Even the drive up towards the village is dramatc and when you arrive and see the entrance to the castle, well it certainly has the...More

Located in the little town of Alarcon on a hill overlooking the surrounding Jucar river and reservoir, this sought-after castle-converted-Parador is usually booked months in advance. Our room was spacious and featured antique furnishings, thick 30-inch stonewalls and a typical castle window overlooking the Jucar...More

Alarcon is quite remote. Easiest way would be to hire a car in Madrid. You could train to one of the bigger nearby towns (say Cuenca), but then you'd still need to take a taxi to Alarcon, which would be expensive I would think. And then leaving would be a challenge as you'd need to ring a taxi to come and get you.
It's probably only a 2 hour drive from Madrid - the roads are good and there's lots to see along the way if you're not in a rush.
Enjoy your trip!
