A midweek evening meal - not too quiet relaxed atmosphere- comfortable. Friendly staff, lovely environment. Beautiful old building - with lots of character. The food was particularly good - I found all 3 courses well presented- cooked and very tasty - I am vegetarian. I will certainly return there. Only negative could be lack of parking - we did have...

1 night stay and loved the place, only downside was our room directly above the bar / reception where you can literally hear the conversation below... to sure what the solution is but doesn't seem right to charge the same for this room than others... great staff, very attentive, sadly can't remember the guys name who checked us in, from...

Very characterful hotel, great location for visiting Salisbury. Our room was comfortable but we could hear the noise coming from the bar just below us. Thoughtfully, earplugs were provided! We ate in the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by the reasonably priced menu. Would definitely visit again and recommend to others.

Just came home after a night in this beautiful old mill. Warm friendly staff & very welcoming. We ate dinner & breakfast there & the food was first class with prompt friendly service. The setting looks like an oil painting. Would recommend over a bland chain hotel anytime & will return to stay when I return to Salisbury.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Old Mill. The staff were all so accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The full breakfast is something to be proud of, cooked and presented really nicely. The scrambled egg and salmon was also delicious. Parking was easy. Nothing can beat being in the midst of nature with the river running through,...

The Old Mill is a small yet quaint hotel situated in Harnham on the outskirts of Salisbury. We didn't stay in the hotel but tried out the bar which served food. The drinks were good, the food average, the price ok but could do better. We'd be happy to go there again but don't think it would be on a...

I met up with old friends, at The Old Mill, and we had a lovely time. Staff could not have been friendlier and more caring. The rooms were nice and clean and the one I had was spacious. The Mill is situated in a stunning position so no one will be disappointed in its position and within easy walk along...

This is classed as a hotel but its really a pub with rooms. It is clean and warm but if you have a room over the bar it is very noisy and the water nearby while picturesque by day is noisy at night time. The organisation is poor - it took us 20 minutes to get a bill that was...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Old Mill Hotel is a 15th century building with features dating back to 1250. From its early ecclesiastical beginnings, it was transformed in the 16th century to a paper mill. The hotel is in the most tranquil location of Harnham Meadows. However, the shopping and tourist district of Salisbury City centre is a mere 10 minute walk. The paved footpath takes you through the meadows which boast the fantastic view of the Cathedral that was voted 'Best View in Britain' in a Country Life poll. It was also made famous in John Constable's classic painting 'Salisbury Cathedral'. (This camera shot alone will make your visit worthwhile.) The hotel is Grade 1 listed in parts and stands in a most peaceful and stunning location above 3 mill runs off of the River Nadder. This really is a countryside escape, just a stone's throw from the ancient city. Our traditional old English bar with low beams, stone floors and open fires, is a step back in time. A little piece of old England that has been preserved for your enjoyment. You can sample the best cask ales, a great selection of wine and food and chat to the locals whilst enjoying the best welcome and hospitality that Wiltshire has to offer. The restaurant is set in the oldest part of the hotel and sits above a mill run which is visible through a viewing panel. The ever present hum of the rushing waters and the large open fireplace, make it one of the best places to enjoy perfectly English food that's been freshly prepared by our chefs for your pleasure. When the weather permits, our restaurant and bar may be outdone by our fantastic garden setting for the best place to enjoy a cool beer, a glass of wine or a great meal. We have 11 en-suite bedrooms set over 3 floors. (No lift available, however, we will of course help you with your bags if needed.) The historic staircase leads you up to the narrow corridors of the newer part of the building, a mere 300 years old. We are sure you will find the views from all our bedrooms are impressive, whether it's the Harnham hills, the River Nadder or over our fabulous gardens set on either side of the mill run, where every seat has a waterside view! The hotel bar, restaurant and bedrooms are undergoing refurbishment during Autumn 2014 and the garden will be completed in March 2015. This is being done with the maximum respect for our present hotel, bar and restaurant visitors and will enhance this already great experience. ... more   less
