Although this is an overall good stay, there is a problem that needs to be addressed, and that is cigarette smoke. We booked a non-smoking room, but it smelled of smoke. It wasn't so bad, so we got used to it. However, at 11 p.m., I was awakened by the strong smell of cigarette smoke in our room. The next day, I asked to be moved, which was cheerfully done by the supervisor. It seems like the administration is not too serious about controlling smoking in this hotel.

The hotel was lovely and clean with a nice view from higher ground. All toiletries provided.Room was spacious. Local food can be found around or nearby.Beside a shopping complex with duty-free shops. FYI, do not purchase Gamat products inside the HIG shop as price was expensive than outside the shop.

I left my coat/suit/blazer in the room during check out, after that the good news is I managed to retrieve it back from the hotel. I guess the fundamental core value of the hotel made this happened.

I couldn't imagine what would happen if this happened at other hotels...
"Sorry sir, we couldn't locate it, maybe..."
But the management of HIG has instilled the right core value to its asset. Kudos and well done.

HIG stands for Haji Ismail Group. A true islamic hotel.

Walking distance to HIG complex, a land fill of chocolate (honey and milk too?)

The delish breakfast is a challenge for those who has small apetite and difficulties to decide.

The hotel is located in Kuah Town and next to HIG mall. Really convenient for those who wants to go shopping and looking for chocolate and cookware. There are HIG bazaar and foodcourt too in front of the hotel. The staff is polite and friendly. The room is clean. Overall is ok and nice to stay.

We stayed at this hotel in Dec 2015, my 13 month old son has had a terrible accident here. While using the bathroom sink, it suddenly collapsed and caused severe injury to my son, he has lost his left ring finger as it was completely cut, he had several stitches on both feet and a cut on his face. The hotel management has not been able to respond to an emergency and offered no apology for what has happened and instead they tried to charge us. We are very disappointed and devastated as this has ruined our holiday not to mention all the medical bills and permanent scars my son now has to live with. Please be careful especially of you have kids, I would not want this to happen to anyone else.

We booked a junior suite and a standard room. The standard room had a more nice view facing Kuah town. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with nice ambience. However, the housekeeping staffs did not replenish the bathroom amenities upon cleaning up the rooms. Staffs were very helpful during check-in and check-out process. Limited breakfast spread, probably because of off-peak season. Ample parking spaces are available since the hotel is located next to a duty free mall. The hotel is quite far from tourist attractions so you will definitely have to consider renting out a car or using public transport.

We booked this hotel for 2 nights. The rooms were very good. The hotel staff were very helpful in getting taxis, keeping our luggage etc. Hotel itself is very clean and room amenities are classy for the price offered. It is located about 20 km from Cenang, which is about 30-40 mins but taxis are easily available. The airport is about 40 km away but takes max an hour.

There are lot of shops nearby open late into night for food, essentials etc. Good experience.

Staff: front desk and concierge staff very helpful. Our rented car had some problem and the staff was very helpful to assist us! Special thanks to the driver Abang Zamri!
Breakfast: Average, spread limited but acceptable. Staff not that friendly.
Room: Junior suite was booked for 3 pax. There are three towels, three hand towels, three water bottle and three shower cap but TWO toothbrushes??? Asked for one more toothbrush but housekeeping staff rejected and informed that there are only maximum two toothbrushes provided for each room. For the second day, ALL the amenities are replenished except for shower gel and shampoo. Fed up with housekeeping staff so we did not call for extra shower gel and shampoo. houskeeping service not consistent and up to standard.
Location: Near to all good and cheap food. But very far away from airport and pantai cenang. Duty free shopping mall beside the hotel!

The house keeping staffs stole my two of my nice dresses and a suit that were hanging inside the closet. When I confronted the hotel manager, he only kept saying that their staffs never stole instead of trying to investigate the case.

in addition, there are ants inside the room.

We stayed our entire 4 days holiday in Langkawi with HIG and we don't regret it! For a 3 star hotel price, we found our room spacious with new furniture and very clean. All staff including housekeeping and restaurant were very friendly and nice. Specially the reception staff were very helpful. They patiently helped me to set a personal tour for our holiday. It took us more than one hour to arrange everything and book some tours! and they weren't pushy recommending their own tours or agents which made us feel comfortable choosing our activities. Location is a bit far from cable car and other main attractions but since hiring a car almost cost nothing in Langkawi (I hired a Toyota Yaris from Thursday morning to Sunday evening for only $225 MR! + $80 gas) that didn't worry us at all.
To be honest we didn't found the food quality and breakfast very enjoyable but it was ok, although there are rooms for further improvements.
With being picked up for most tours and almost cost to nothing car rental rates in Langkawi, I'd highly recommend to stay at HIG and enjoy your stay in this cozy, friendly and clean budget hotel.

P.s: Thank you Azlee for all your
