We loved everything about this place and are so glad we chose it. We were warmly welcomed by Azmil from the moment we arrived. A funny and lighthearted, he gave us a tour around the grounds pointing everything out.
You can borrow bicycles for free to ride into town - they give you a lock to keep it safe.
The rooms were on point, everything you'd need and even a proper medium sized fridge for all the booze you'll be picking up in town.
We had the upper chalet and we liked it for the high ceilings and exposed beams. The decor is so well thought out. The perfect blend of modern and traditional.
We sat by the pool for most of the day (RMCO no swimming) and really enjoyed the sound of nature.
Azmil is very attentive to the guests needs. He saw us walking to the pool area and made sure the cushions were ready for us to lie on.
Breakfast always fantastic. Choose anything from the breakfast menu, get any coffee you like and any juice you fancy - all included in the room with breakfast!
The cafe is so rustic and great for Instagramming. I had a lot of comments from friends - where is this place!?!? We ended up having lunch here too. Very reasonable prices. And they have the best coffee on the island!
A grab ride from the airport is RM10. RM5 to town and RM5 back to Panji Panji.
You can also walk if that's your thing. We walked one day for major fun. It was hot but we felt good, like how most chubby people feel when they've done some exercise. In all honesty it's only a ten to fifteen minute walk.
We will definitely be back. It's our new favourite place to stay in Langkawi.

We have just returned from 7 night stay at Panji Panji. After spending a lot of time of time deliberating over where to stay we are SO glad we chose here. The property is wonderful, its a cool oasis to come home to after a day exploring the beaches. A family of 4 with 2 teenage daughters, we booked the upstairs villa for us and the downstairs villa for the girls. This worked so well, with everyone having their own space. The villas are very clean, air conditioned and loved the coloured stained glass windows throwing off beautiful rays of light around the room. Bathroom is partly outdoor, so nice to shower in a bathroom unlike any thing else you find in your standard hotel room. Amazing cafe, staff beautiful and so friendly to talk to. Loved the coffee, having travelled to Asia a lot, we're always disappointed with the coffee, but not here - its amazing!! Small things but makes a big difference. Property Manager Azmil is fantastic, his personal recommendations for tours, restaurants, beaches, car hire were all SPOT ON, Thanks Azmil for being such a wonderful host, not intrusive, but always there if you need him.
The pool is lovely and being a small property on most occasions we had the pool to ourselves. Kids loved this.
If you are looking for 5 star luxury, bright and shiny everything, and 24/7 room service, this is not your place, however if you want an authentic, cute and quaint property with wonderful personal service, this is your place.

Panji Panji is my new favourite place in Langkawi. We stayed as a family of 4 in the villa which was spacious and very comfortable. It has been decked out stylishly and with good quality furniture. My children aged 8 and 9 shared the sofa bed which was a good size for them. The bed my husband and I shared was very comfortable with great pillows and good quality bedding. The room was cleaned well every day with plenty of fresh towels and clean sheets. The design of the villa is simply beautiful. There are stained glass window panels which let in a lovely light. The balcony is spacious and beautifully done. Surrounded by trees and nature, is was food for the soul after lockdown in a concrete condo in KL. We spotted hornbills and a giant Malayan squirrel from our balcony as well as various butterflies. The sound of birdsong throughout the day was simply lovely. We had our own private gate which really made it feel like we were in our own home. The swimming pool is perfect size for the kids, long enough to do some lengths and big enough for the kids to play in.
The TV has Netflix and Youtube already set up, which was great for family movie nights or keeping the kids entertained when it rained.
We had breakfast or lunch daily at the onsite cafe, Smiling Buffalo. The kids loved the mango waffles and fresh juices. I loved the smoked salmon or poached eggs in tomato. The coffee was delicious too.
The staff here are wonderful. Smiling, friendly and ready to assist with anything.
The have some old rickety bikes to borrow which me and my daughter did a few times, exploring the nearby paths around the local kampung. Panji Panji is within walking distance of Pantai Cenang but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful.
At the end of the road, 5 mins walk is Tubotel and their brilliant restaurant Tapaz which I would also highly recommend for nearby food and drinks.
We will never forget our stay at Panji Panji - we stayed for 28 nights, a new record for this place. Many of our friends visited who were staying in other nearby accommodation and they were all jealous of our find!
Thank you so much to Azmil and his crew for everything, you made it a summer to remember.

We stayed here for 6 nights and it was the best decision to stay at the same place for our whole trip, staff are friendly and helpful. The property is clean and a perfect place to relax. If you like nature this is the best place for you, as the property has tropical like ambience, I even spotted a rare birds around the area. Rooms comes with breakfast and a drink, best things is the cafe serves really good quality coffee, my personal favourite is hot mocha. They have band playing chill music every weekend. I really enjoy my daily breakfast during my stay.
The first 2 nights, we stayed in a upper room, it has super king bed which can fit 3 person, the bathroom is big and had shower rain head, best part of the room is the big balcony. The rest of the trip we stayed in villa which is huge and stunning, this villa can fit 4 people, it has smart TV with Netflix fuction, super king size bed, a sofa that can be a bed for 2 people, a spacious bathroom with a bathtub. The villa has also a spacious balcony where you can relax privately and enjoy the garden view.
Panji panji is also near to other restaurants and cafés with a nice view. I had a relaxing time staying here, I will definitely come back someday.

A small, dark room with poor lighting, locks and ventilation was a big step down coming from a 5 star resort on the opposite side of Langkawi. This bump down to earth hit me pretty hard. The WiFi was patchy, the check in was insufficient and we soon found ourselves online booking excursions and day trips to ensure our 3 days here were spent, mostly, out of the hotel.
However, it is what it is and we soon grew comfortable roughing it a little bit. This took me back to my backpacking days. It's cheap, convenient and on the right rough area for activities along Pantai Cenang. The cafe connected to the hotel seems very popular with trendy, hippy vibes. Laid back is the order of the day here. We found ourselves ubering in and out of here quite frequent as it was a little out of the way to walk into town, but convenient nonetheless.
We had a few decent sleeps but I can't really rate this more than a 3. It was just a bed inside a concrete cube and that's exactly how it felt.

We had a wonderful week at Panji Panji. We loved the boutique, artistic decor and design and the spacious and thoughtful accommodation allowing us all to sleep well. Azmil and his team are extremely helpful and accommodating. The surrounding scenery is beautiful and our kids loved swimming in the pool with giant tree squirrels in the trees above! The food is fantastic and portions and offerings extremely generous, inclusive of your stay. We thought it great that we could have brunch instead of breakfast with juice and coffees rather than only having to stick aZZ a to the breakfast menu. This allowed for lazy mornings. The coffee is also the best we have had in Malaysia! There are good selections of books and magazines for guests to read and relax, which we certainly did. We will definitely be back 😊

Such idyllic serenity. Azmil, the manager has decorated most of the place himself and it is truly beautiful. Both him and all his staff is hands-on, making sure you always have what you need. Loved the bikes, super cozy ride to the beach!

We returned to Panji Panji after 3 years and were not disappointed! Azmil goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and the rest of the staff are also friendly and helpful. Panji Panji (and Azmil) were the reason we returned to Langkawi. The accommodation has a unique, welcoming and comfortable vibe. We brought friends with us this time and they are also keen to return!

Hi dears! We had a wonderful time at panji panji, thank you for making us feel really welcome. We enjoyed the breakfast, the cozy atmosphere, the swimming pool, the breeze and chattering of friendly people around. It has been a good home for a few days. Your hospitality has been wonderful, ps next time we will bring an extra bag, and leave our brother behind (we dont think he will mind)! Clara & Rudolf

Very pleasant stay in this small boutique hotel with its tropical garden and spacious and very nicely decorated rooms. We appreciated the welcome, the generous and delicious breakfast. We were in one of the overwater villas with a garden view and close to the swimming pool, ideal for children. It was big enough for the 4 of us and very nicely decorated. Nice facilities with kettle, TV and above all a large fridge! It is certainly a little out of the way, around 5 to 10 minutes from the beach and restaurants, but this guarantees the calm and authenticity of the setting.
I recommend, it was a very nice getaway to Langkawi.
