Detailed Reviews
RL Lodge as it is called nowadays is a long standing favourite of backpackers who stay near Pantai Cenang. Even the dorm offers privacy comparable to a small single room due to walls between beds. RL is not new but still very well managed by Ann & Eddie. It was fully booked on the day I stayed there (despite being the rainy season). I decided to afford myself a large room with attached bathroom and terrace with hammock which was excellent value for money. Ann took me on her bike to a noname Malay restaurant which offers excellent and authentic food for locals and therefore very little money. Standard tours can be booked right there.

The room was spacious and have own bathroom which is good for the price rate. Just 10-15 min walk to Cenang beach. Along the way you will find small "warung" where you can have your breakfast or lunch. Very delicious and cheap!

I was not staying in this property but can only tell here about the scooter rental. Addy and Kashif are super friendly and helpful when I was renting a scooter for 2 weeks. If something happens to the scooter which is not your fault they reacted immediately and helped me out - and I was a rookie driver not knowing how to start the scooter :)
Very nice great service even when I was not their guest, that's awesome!

We came here through recommendation. Great food, at a cheap price. Beers on tap and pool table available. Brilliant service, really friendly guys, suggested a meal on the menu which I really enjoyed. Over all generally a really nice place off the busy main road. Music wasn’t our taste but happily go back

We stayed in a double air con room for 4 nights. The room and ensuite were extremely spacious and we had a beautiful porch area with a hammock, table and chairs.
The location is ideal as it's just a 5 minute walk to the beach and the night market on a Thursday night.
The staff are very friendly and so knowledgable. The food and drink in the cafe is great and very reasonably priced. Beer is only RM4! The free breakfast is the best we've had in Malaysia!
There is a tour office where you can rent scooters (RM30 per day), book tours on the island and organise travel to Thailand and within Malaysia.
We would stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone!!

Great place! Such a mellow environment with cool managers. They were so easy going with the room, bike rental and suggested awesome places to visit around the island. It's a short walk to the main strip of stores and restaurants, and it's great to just chill in the hammock after a day at the beach or motorbiking around the island. Thanks for making the trip safe and comfortable Rainbow Lodge 😊 we hope to come back again!

we stayed here for a few days after enjoying 2 weeks here when we were travelling about 3 years ago. Standards have slipped since then. In the 6 days we were at Rainbow Lodge, our room was never cleaned, our towels were never changed and neither were our sheets. I appreciate the place is cheap, but it used to be cheap AND clean. To top it off there was a pile of rubbish bags, over 20 of them, that were never cleared away. Thankfully we were in a room away from them. I think the place is in need of a bit of TLC, there's better available for about the same price.

Ok, let's start with the good..... The location isn't too far from the beach, although you do feel isolated as this is away from the main strip.
The place is old, messy, dirty and has a weird vibe to it.
We arrived, were shown to our room in silence. The room was a double with a/c. The noisiest a/c I've ever heard! The rooms are really dark, almost eerie. Dust everywhere, and mouse droppings on the dresser/TV table. Towels knackered and old, bed soft and bumpy..... Not good.
We handed out keys back and moved to a much better place, next to the beach and most of all CLEAN!
Moral of the story? You get what you pay for.

+1
I stay at the dorm room for one week of my 3 weeks travelling. It was a nice dorm because i can get my own space and privacy. They built the dorm like a block with curtains. The best thing about the dorm is that every block had their own fan, lamp and suis. The toilet are seperate for male and female (added point!). The dorm and lodge area are very clean. I even comeback to Langkawi on May and stay here for another one week. The location was perfect. Just 5 minutes walking to the beach. The area far enough from noisy main road and close enough to the beach
CONS
- They need a better chef at the restaurant! On Feb when i was there, they still served local food which is not bad. When i comeback on May they stop serve local food. I did order the western food and it was horrible.
- Their place to hangout which is the restaurant area are not so guest-friendly. The atmosphere are not happening. Not a place for me to making friends and socialize. Thats the reason why i always hangout at other guesthouse to socialize around the area. Coz they have nicer atmosphere.
The staff here are very friendly. Espeacially Mr Gary and the Philiphine lady at the counter. I will definitely come back again on the next visit.

Just one to each house
Email them. Addy will get back to you. ... Or telephone
Yes beach is around 5 to 10 mins walk. You can hire bikes from the lodge but for cars you can hire from tshoppe on the main Pantai Cenang road which is just 5 mins walk from rainbow lodge. We did for RM 120 per day. We parked in front of our room. There are indian restaurants walking distance on the Pantai Cenang main road though we didn't try any coz wanted to eat local food. Yes you can book local tours from the front desk such as island hopping tour mangrove tour ànd so on. You can send them an email to book. Available on the rainbow lodge website.
