I had a very bad experience staying in Meritus Pelangi Langkawi last Sunday/Monday. Firstly, although i booked via Agoda and prepaid, the Front desk took RM 200 credit card authorisation.
Secondly, even with the card authorisation, the mini bar was empty. Only when i returned...More

There for two nights? - I wouldn't be wasting time travelling around - just unwind by the pools or in the beautiful grounds, and be spoilt by the fantastic staff at the resort. Two of the restaurants at the resort are among the top three in Langkawi - not to be missed, especially the Car where you can eat, have a drink or two, enjoy the sea breeze, the sunset over the water (it's right by the beach). There are eating places if you walk the kilometre along the beach, but they're not as good. You can hire jet skis on this stretch of beach, or go paragliding. The mangrove tour is good, if you are not familiar with that environment; personally, I've seen them in New Guinea and Borneo, and they all start to look the same after a while. Just relax, and make the most of your time near or in the resort.

Hi, the place I would recommend to have breakfast in is the Huggin Hippo, just along the beach from the hotel. They do the best coffee by far (they even know what a flat white is)...they source locally made beef sausages for their breakfasts, not the factory crap they serve at the hotel. They have another place up the road and just off the beach (tricky to find first time) called the Smilin Buffalo, this is equally good, though I got the impression the menu was more limited, but I might be wrong...love that place too, so chilled, definitely check it out if even for a coffee...Have a great time!
And btw...best place to eat in Langkawi for lunch or dinner (if you have wheels...not easy to find) is Pia's the Padi
