This small strip of land between the Bank complex and the massive Tropicana construction site offers beach access. This end of the beach is suited to confident swimmers only in my opinion as it drops off quite quickly and bigger waves could cause concern. I enjoyed it as its at the end of the beach with a couple of coconut trees for shade. The staff keep the rooms well serviced. Air con with clean filters and a ceiling fan offer comfort. The more economical rooms closer to the beach are in one long block. Unfortunately, should your neighbour's require loud tv, conversations and or a drinking session till 0145 am, you may find that impacting on the quality of your stay. The managers advice on this issue is to pay another 20myr a night and move into other rooms that only have one neighbour. Something to weigh up.

Love this place. We return every few years. Our rooms are impeccably clean and comfortable, the staff are wonderful and the grounds are extremely well kept. Having almost immediate access to the beach is a bonus.

Quiet and pleasant stay. Walking accessible to Cenang street and 100metres to the beach. If taking a grab it cost you MYR20 (+/-) from langkawi international airport. Economy car rental may cost you MYR100-150 per day and this hotel have free parking. If you do not like high rise hotel (like me) wanna find a decent room to stay for 1 or 2 nights, easy to access around for street food and market. I would suggest you this hotel.

This hidden gem is a great value resort for everyone. 50 m from a near deserted beach. 200 m from all the Restaurants, bars, duty free shops. Clean and tidy with lots of greenery. Friendly staff. What more could you want for the price.

Got a good deal on Agoda, especially during this very low season with lockdown in the Klang Valley, so got the whole resort for myself. This allows me to stay in the best room the resort has to offers which is Room 198. It's the only room that's facing the beach/sea view. Arrived early at around 10.30am and was immediately given the keys to the room, which was great. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Room was spacious with all the amenities you'd expect..anyway, this is not a Marriott so keep your expectations low and you'll be fine. The resort itself is tucked in a beautiful garden surrounding, but maybe in the near future the construction of the unwanted luxury condo next to it will affect your stay. Pls check before booking. Due to the construction hoarding of the condo and nearby upcoming Parkroyal, the beach is quite inaccessible to the public, which means guests have the beach for themselves. I spent every morning and evening on the sandy almost to myself, save for the occasional anglers and visitors. Overall, a very nice place to stay and enjoy the beach without having to break the bank.

Really good value for money. Friendly staff. Very pretty garden pathways. Quiet location relatively, some building works going on, but seems a common occurrence in the area. Room was tidy and mostly clean. The ceiling of the bathroom a little worse for wear and water pressure was lacking. As stated, very good value for money and for what we saved in board allowed for more excursions etc. Would recommend to a friend.

We stayed at the Sunset Beach Resort for two nights and had a lovely stay. Our room was huge and well finished given the low cost, with lots of seating, comfortable bed, good air con, very large bathroom with a good strong shower. There wasn’t much hot water but you won’t need it! There is a shaded sitting area outside each room as well. The resort itself is very pretty, jungle like with lots of plants and statues on the walk down to the private beach which is absolutely stunning and so peaceful (see my pic!).You’re in a walking distance of some great restaurants and the bars of Pantai Cenang. There negatives for me were: - WiFi doesn’t work in the room at all, you can only get it in the reception area. - The bathroom had no ventilation. - The sun loungers on the beach are all old and broken with no cushions, my husband fell through one and hurt his back. Overall we had a great stay and I’d definitely recommend the resort.

All ways ploite and helpful.(da Tom job noon). The breakfast is fresh and tidy. The waiters are always around assisting with the needs. The setup and ocean view is beautiful in the morning while having a drink or even something to eat. Cheers

Looks are deceiving. Don't be con by the beautiful pictures of the room and surroundings. It's not what you hope for. It was more of a jungle set-up with plants jotting out along the narrow pathway to the room. The entrance to the 'motel' looks very eerie at night as it's not lighted up and the room are rather small. The bedsheet and pillows are dirty with stains. Not an ideal place to stay even though it's close to the beach.

My wife and I stayed at Sunset Beach Resort for 5 days in September 2019. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would like to make some comments re our hotel and stay in Pantai Cenang. Firstly the Sunset Beach Resort is not a 4 or 5 star hotel. If that is what you are expecting then this is not the place for you. The rooms are quite basic but with all of the amenities you would expect to find in most "more budget conscious" hotels. We came here after a five day stay in a 5 star hotel in Kota Kinabalu and knew this hotel was not going to offer the same level of comfort and conveniences. However we chose this hotel based on it's location and it's wonderful private beach. When searching for hotels in central Pantai Cenang all other hotels only had access to the main public beach, which is fine if you don't mind the crowds, noise, beach vendors and the sound of jet ski and power boat engines. The private beach at Sunset Resort was a serene and palm tree lined delight, it was quiet and peaceful and more often than not we were the only guests enjoying its tranquility. From the hotel it was a 4-5 min walk up the main street to McDonalds, Zon Duty Free,Coco Valley Duty Free and Underwater World which were all located next to each other. If we found ourselves at the far end of the main street which was about 20-25 mins walk we always had the option of getting a Grab car (similar to Uber) home for MYR4 (thats around US$1.00). It's well worth downloading the Grab app when in Malaysia as fares are very cheap compared to regular taxis, ie a regular taxi from Langkawai airport to Pantai Cenag is MYR30,Grab car MYR12 As noted in other reviews the wifi at Sunset Beach is only really strong at the reception area but I would also recommend getting a local sim card when travelling in Malaysia. I got a Digi Traveller Sim at the airport,MYR40 and valid for 15 days which had 10gb of excellent 4g coverage and another 10gb or so for use with social media apps. There is also a 7 day Digi Traveller Sim for MYR20. It also comes with a local phone number which can be used when making bookings for Grab cars etc. For my 2 weeks in various parts of Malaysia I had perfect 4g coverage wherever I was and never had to rely on finding free wifi spots. Another reason I highly recommend this hotel was some great service from the reception staff and manager. The toilet in my room broke and wouldnt flush properly. When I spoke to the very friendly receptionist about it she called her manager who then upgraded us to the seaview room overlooking the private beach at no extra cost for the remainder of our stay. It is by far the best room at Sunset Beach Resort and I guess we were just lucky that it wasnt already booked during our time there. If you are thinking of staying at this hotel and the seaview room is available it is well worth the extra cost . It has a direct and unobstructed view of the beach plus you can hear the sound of the waves while sitting on your front deck and within 20-30m you could be on the beach or in the sea. To summarize we highly enjoyed our stay at Sunset Beach Resort,it is what it is, a budget friendly hotel within easy access to Pantai Cenang main street and the best beach in the whole area.
