Room was clean and comfy, maybe you are used to hotels cleaning the room everyday but thats always the question here, but if you ask the great staff they will help, instant.
Yaty the chatty manager will help you with all you need. She work 20 hours a day, she really deserves respect, she does everthing with passion. She loves to share her vision and adventures.
Chenang inn is a cozy small tiny resort with nature around it, the sounds at night are crickets n frogs, they help me sleep ;).
Located at the start of cenang its perfect to explore, all you need to start is near(rental food bar beach fun excursions)
Dont expect a 4star hotel with all luxeries then this aint the place for you, expect a personal intimate experience with a great hostess, a fine room and great breakfast(every morning unique).

We booked at booking.com but when we arrived the friendly manager said that other guest wanted to stay longer so we get an upgrade. The room was clean with a big bed and airco! We rented a motorbike and the manager gave us tips to visit it was truly beautiful!
Breakfast was good! There was fruit, toast, several cookies and traditional snacks.
We booked a flight but that went wrong so we had to book an other flight and the manager helped us with finding a cheap flight.
It is walking distance to the beach and several restaurants. I can recommend chenang in to everybody!

Do not stay here if you don't want your holiday ruined!
The staff is so unprofessional and not reliable. We signed up and paid the deposit for the Pulau Payar island trip 2 days in advance with them, they provided confirmation on the spot. The late afternoon the day before the trip they were still telling us when and where to wait to be picked up the next morning, but when we came back from dinner at 9:30pm++, the staff (a malay guy) waved at us nervously at the reception and when we approached him (didn't even bother to walk to out us), he said sorry and said our trip were cancelled by the tour operator due to fully booked. I found this unacceptable and doesn't make sense as we make our booking 2 days ago and confirmation was provided. We asked if he can sign us up with other tour operator but he said he didn't know any others and said this is the only tour operator to pulau payar. He then later said we can probably go to ask another hotel (which is 30min walk from our hotel) - all conflicting statements! I asked if he can call the other hotel for us but he refused to do so. Didn't offer any other help - like drive us to that hotel or anything - as it's already late and things are closing up. After cancelling our trip, he also refused to refund our deposit on the spot, and kept telling us he can only do that tomorrow (very strange). After i insisted, then he finally did it. I requested to speak to manager and he said there is no manager (in fact he said no one else), it's just him and the other Malay girl who man the reception counter. It was so disappointing and frustrating and totally ruined our day and our plan for next day.
Room is just ok and not expensive. However when we walked around that area, we noticed many more options with cheaper price and more characteristic design/set up.
Breakfast is not provided, have to pay RM10. Luckily we didn't go for their breakfast as a short walk to the main road has a breakfast shop which serves delicious and cheap local breakfast.
Safety box is not in the room but with the reception, i strongly urge you do not store your valuable items with them as they are really irresponsible and unreliable!

Response from ChenangInn, Owner at Chenang Inn
Responded 22 Nov 2016
Dear Miss Lee, Thank you very much for your review and bringing this issue to our attention about your recent stay at our hotel. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us, as we strive to improve with each and every stay and we are sorry to hear that your stay at our establishment did not meet your expectations. Below this I will point out issue and give explanation:- I. The staff is so unprofessional and not reliable include they waved at you, didn’t offer any other help. Your complaint has inspired us to re-train the reception staff. Now, all staff have been reminded that the appropriate procedure in this situation is do not waved at our guest and they need to walk over and approached guest. II. Confirmation about Pulau Payar trip and refuse to refund My sincere apology for my staff behaviour and the inconvenience happened. Please allow me this opportunity to explain on the issue arise. For your information, the trip arrangement that has been made with tour operators was not happen as we planned. We booked the trip on behalf of our customers and the confirmation was subject to the schedule of the tour operator. As mentioned in your complaints, you booked the trip 2 days earlier which I believe my staff would ring you back if the tour operator cancel the trip, where I found my staff missed out to do so. They supposed to provide you an alternative as it is our common practice, unfortunately due to lack of experience; they snubbed your request to refund the deposit, but finally they did it. I am currently looking forward in this matter and will take action to avoid it from happening again in the future. We are committed to provide you the highest standard of practice on our service and facilities. III. Alternative tour operator and hotel As I mentioned earlier, we highlighted the best service and courtesy to our customers. However in case of emergency on the cancellation of the trip, we were having difficulties to book other tour operators due to conflict of interest between our existing tour operator partners. Alternatively, we still can assist you on the booking other trip but the confirmation is subject to those tour operator. This is the area that needs improvement from us in the future. IV. Breakfast is not provided I believe the package for breakfast is subject to your booking. Normally we serve the breakfast as an option that you can include in your booking. However, you also may find a good shop nearby that serves more variety of breakfast. V. Safety box Regarding this issue, our guest can save their valuable items in our safety box. We take extra precaution to make sure our guest items will safe with us. For safety reasons, we have set a time for the guest to take their valuable items and so far there are no reports about stolen or lost goods. Furthermore, there are CCTV inside and outside the reception area. We’re currently taking steps to upgrade some of the safety box facilities Please accept out most sincere apologies. Given the unfortunate experience you had here at the chenang inn. I hope that your nest stay with us will better meet our standard of excellence and I hope that can convince you to change your mind about another visit to our chenang inn. Please reach out to me directly at Chenang_Inn@yahoo.com.my if you would be willing to give us a chance to turn your experienced around. It would be such pleasure to personally welcome you back to our new and improved hotel! Best regards, Zainon

We booked this hotel after we read good reviews on booking.com. It became a major dissapointment.
First when we arrived, the hotel was overbooked, so we were taken to another hotel. The most dirty and awful place we had ever seen! We went straight back to Chenang Inn and told the manager that we were not going to sleep there. After this, we were taken to a better hotel, but the whole process took 3 hours and that's not something you want when booking a hotel in advance..
For compensation, we were offered to stay in 'the best room', the traditional house. DON'T BOOK THE TRADITIONAL HOUSE. After one night we asked for a normal room, because there were insects everywhere: mosquito's, but also huge spiders and cockroaches! The house is made of wood and completely open, so you have no protection against tropical animals.
The first two nights of our stay were full of stress. Nobody apologised or helped us with our lugage when we had to move, for the second time in two days.
The basic room was okay, but we didn't get any cleaning in 5 days.
When we asked for a late checkout, we had to pay for it. Sorry?! After all of the bad things that had already happen here?
Very, very big dissapointment. I am sorry to be so negative, but I had to share this. Langkawi is a beautiful island though:).

Stayed here for 3 nights. We were totally satisfied with the great, friendly and motherly service by Yati and all other staffs (TKah and the rest). Pantai Cenang and the most happening street is just 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The room is clean, comfortable, air conditioned, new, quite spacious and basic toilet amenities provided (towel provided too). The breakfast that prepared by Yati is simple yet awesome (must try Yati's signature omelette). Lunch, dinner, tea and supper, not to worry, along the cenang beach road, there are so many great restaurants for you to try and taste.
If you faced any trouble during the visits, Yati can assist you by providing a lot of suggestion and tips (ex: where to go, which trip to join and etc etc)
Overall, I had a great stay here and for sure will stay in Cenang Inn on my next visit near future. Thanks Yati and Tkah for your assistant to make our Langkawi trip a great one. :)

+1
The price on this hotel was just right. And the service was super sweet. Yati the hotel manager is a wonderful, thoughtful person with a bright attitude and much information on the island and immediate area. Her and the 4 hotel owners and managers in this street are all best friends. She has travelled extensively and likes to know what her guests need to make them happy. This hotel is the newest and nicest in the bunch, yonly 4 months old! We thank you for your hospitality and reccomend anyone stay here in comfort. No bugs! Efficient and eco friendly hotel. You have to have breakfast with yati.. she makes omelets and has all kinds of new fruits and pastries and jams like kaiya (brown sugar, egg yolk and coconut blended) juice and coffee unlimited too
All at the breakfast bar. Only 8 ringitt pp!

This property is centrally located - within mins. of more restaurants than one could possibly visit in our three night stay. Our room was basic but comfortable and very clean. Grounds were pleasant but simple and Yeti shared with us their ongoing plans for improvement. She has even planted fruit trees to provide fresh produce for her guests. Yetis organized all of our activities quickly and efficiently. In fact, Yetis is the very heart of this Inn. From the minute she greets you with her happy sing-song voice, your every need is looked after. Jeti is an amazing woman in her own right and will happily share her stories if asked. But she never looses sight of any of her guests and their needs. She very quickly offered her entire first aid kit when the need arose and even drove us right to the ferry herself on our departure day. It was a real pleasure to stay here and I certainly would do so again........thank you Jeti and staff!

We arrived at the hotel and had a slow check in, but were given a good room. Room was not a bad size and was clean with a wet room/toilet and a small patio with 2 chairs and a table. Room was very quiet. Breakfast was good each morning with a selection of fruits, coffee, toast and a home made omelette. Hotel is a short walk from the beach and numerous bars and restaurants. Excellent value for money at GBP30 (about USD45) per night. Staff are really friendly and helpful and can organise car hire and taxis.
