In the last big village of the magic valley you will find this small hotel with nice, modern rooms that has to offer all the amenities you need for a stay. Up to date rooms with modern facilities, simple but very functional offer nice wooden walls and most of the rooms have an own balcony with a breathtaking view over the village and the river Lonza.
The dinner and breakfast in the own restaurant are good with locally sources ingredients and specialities. A mixture between self serving buffet and some served dishes or drinks will provide you with the necessary refreshments before or after a hike.
We enjoyed a business trip with a team building activity organised by the owner for one afternoon. It was relaxing and very charming with personal anecdotes on the local politics or histories that were told during the guided tour through the village or the explanations after dinner.
It was a really nice event and I will definitely recommend the location.

This hotel and the staff are absolutely the best. You feel right at home, and anything you need is just a call away. They go out of their way to make sure the meal is exactly as you ordered. I can't wait to go back. The location is fabulous. great views. wine and coffee all day when you need it!

Amazing room and breakfast and evening meal. Nothing to fault really. We borrowed the hotels toboggans and had a nice walk up to Fafleralp and toboggan down - great to fill in the morning before we had to leave. Carnival season is interesting! An excellent weekend escape to the mountains. Lots of entertainment at dinner! Very friendly hotel. Would recommend.

Very nice family-run hotel in Loetschental with plenty of winter/summer activities nearby. The room view to the white snowy mountains is beautiful. Very good restaurants with Swiss traditional dishes. Warm and personal services from the family owners. Highly recommended

Stayed here for a few days in June, the hotel is in the most beautiful setting. The room itself was very clean, would have loved a proper double bed instead of two pushed together as this made it uncomfortable as there was a gap in between, not ideal for couples. The only other slight thing that let it down for me was The lack of things written in English, this was a particular problem with the menu in the restaurant. This could so easily be sorted by providing one or 2 English menus. The staff were helpful in trying to translate. I would love to return one day as it really is a beautiful place to wake up in.

Response from LukasKalbermatten, Owner at Hotel Edelweiss
Responded 26 Jul 2017
Dear Jennifer Thank you very much for your Review. I’m happy you enjoyed your stay. We know several Kind of Hotel beds and several Kind of Clients. Somme like to have one big bed, other wants to have 2 separated beds. We have different kind in our rooms, so it is important that the Clients give us the Information at the time of the booking. The best way is always to book directly by the Hotel, so you can place your individual wishes to the Reservation-desk. Sorry for the leek of English menus. We have all in French too, it's much more important for us. But we are working on it..... All the best, hope to see you again in Blatten. Lukas Kalbermatten

My wife and I were at the Silencehotel Edelweiss during early September 2014. Our room, #201, overlooked a stream and the quiet village We used the hotel as a base for day hikes in the surrounding mountains; start with a substantial breakfast buffet, return to delicious dinners, and end with a comfortable bed. Does not get much better. Special attention was given to my need for gluten-free food. English spoken at the hotel. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful.

The Panorama trail along the side of the Lotschental (Lotschen Valley) provides a moderate hike with outstanding views. Additionally, drive to the end of Lotschen Valley to Fafleralp (about 10 miles from Silencehotel Edelweiss); this is a staging location for numerous hikes into the surrounding region: trail along the river, lakes, mountain hut, glacier, etc.

The Lotschental is largely undiscovered by British and American travelers, yet is believably one of the most beautiful and friendly mountain areas in Europe. It is a magnificent area for summer walking, particularly on the S.E. side of the valley. The way-marking is very good, and the paths vary from exhilarating to challenging.

Edelweiss is in the village of Blatten, largely undeveloped in tourist terms, and the hotel has an enviable situation overlooking the river (small-scale civil engineering works going on there at present).

We were comfortable and well-cared for. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful, and most were prepared to try their English on us, despite us being the only English-speaking guests. Lukas and Charlotte Kalbermatten are professional in their running of the hotel, and helpful and interested when required. We enjoyed learning more about the area from talks with H. Kalbermatten.

If you want a slick city hotel please go somewhere else, otherwise we feel sure you will enjoy your stay here.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the river are subject to the noise of the river, which may be intrusive for some.

I am so glad we booked this wonderful hotel. It is by far the best hotel in the valley. Our room overlooked the beautiful little village and we could hear the rushing alpine stream below our balcony. The views of the alps were amazing. . Breakfast was generous and we enjoyed our dinners on the sprawling terrace with views of the village and mountains. We had no language barriers as everyone spoke perfect English. Sadly, my German is terrible! What I liked best about this hotel is that you feel like you are in the middle of a vibrant Swiss village, with cows being herded down the road and people carrying milk cans on their shoulders in the morning. This is THE true Switzerland and you could not pick a prettier place. The hiking trails in the region are wonderful. We traveled through the valley via post buses, which are always reliable and on time. This is truly a gem!

Had not been in that area since over 20 years and had decided to do mountain hiking in the swiss alps. This area is declared by UNESCO as world heritage and once you have been on the glacier, you know why!

We spent a wonderful week at this hotel, got lots of inside information on the nicest tours for the hotel owners. When there make sure you do the mountain hiking tour starting in Wiler and via Lauchernalp to the Lötschenpass at 2690m. Up there you have a mountain cabin (absolutely need upfront reservation) where you can rest and prepare for the next day's continuation to Kandersteg. All in all about 7-10hrs of mountain hiking with stunning views.

The Silencehotel Edelweiss is the only 3*** hotel in the area and very good value. We will be there next year again!

Hi. Has anyone driven from Zurich airport?

You can either rent a car at the airport and drive (including a ride on a car train through the mountain) or you take the train and bus! Both ways are pretty common and easy to do!
