I booked a dining room to seat 16 adults and 5 younger children for a big family outing that I'd organized. Right from my arrival, things could not have been any better. First, they permitted me to start a bar/restaurant-tab so that all drinks and meals would be allocated to my credit card. Then, as people started to arrive, the...

The conviviality, cuisine and chilling ambiance went a long way to alleviate our throbbing feet after achieving the half way - 20 mile mark - of our 40 mile historic and extremely challenging Lyke Wake Walk. The potent combination of friendly staff and regulars, roaring fire, eclectic mix of pooches and fantastic food made our overnight beak memorable and relaxing,...

Stopped in at the Lion Inn during our Coast 2 Coast walk for an overnight stay. Busy place but we were shown to our room with little delay. We had a room right over the pub. The place seems to have been built in stages and has a lot of corridors and extensions. It was loud until 10pm, but then...

Overnighted and ate here during a walk across Yorkshire. Despite booking 4 months in advance we got the last room described as a small twin. They were not wrong. Just enough space for two beds with a small gap between them. It was clean and had all the usuals for a hotel like this. Only niggle was it had a...

This was an evening meal after previously stopping for an afternoon drink. Friday evening the place was busy but the service and food was very good. Considering the location the choice of menu and beverages were ample, as for the portions very ample. As a suggestion a smaller portion at a reduced price could be considered for ladies.

Stopped off here with friends after we'd spent a day out on the moors. Our friends had been here many times, our first time and wasn't sure what to expect. We each had quite a different meal but the meal I had (Lasagne) was excellent and very obviously home made. Was too stuffed to sample a pudding but the ladies...
