My husband and I are regular visitors here and will never return again. The food we ordered today was not fit for anyone, we had the deep fried brie that was well and truly over some and cranberry sauce was watery. We both had the seafood platter and that also was over cooked, the fish tasted awful the scampi didnt...

They don't do that nouveau cuisine here ... just good old-fashioned British pub grub, and plenty of it. If you are having one of the grills, beware ... they are real plate fillers and few people can have had three courses and been able to leave the place unaided. The pub is in a beautiful location, is full of character...

Had a lovely Easter Sunday lunch with the family. As I'm 6ft 2 in (not officially) watch out for those low beams as this is oldy worldy! My partner is small so she managed ok. The food was great, plenty of meat and cater for requests too. Busy but great atmosphere. There was a random power cut, but i for...

Homemade Chicken Kiev used to be on the specials menu until a couple of years ago, but it was stopped because some people didn't like the wait for it to be cooked. Luckily if you phone a couple of days in advance they will do it for you. Once again thanks to the Chefs, it was excellent.

Visited Sunday looking for a traditional roast dinner and we were not disappointed. Great slab of beef with all the trimmings and a superb Yorkshire pudding with gravy to be proud of. Absolutely fantastic thank you.

My husband and I recently stayed here for date night and loved it! Cosy rooms, roaring fires, friendly staff not to mention the delicious food! Breakfast the next day was lovely and we were lucky enough to get snow while we were there, cosy inside with a glass of wine :)

I had the steak and mushroom pie and there was a mountain of it! The meat was tender and the gravy absolutely delicious. Served with home made chips and fresh veg, it all left me rather stuffed! I remarked that there should be lady-sized portions and received the witty riposte "We only serve Yorkshire portions!" My companions were equally impressed...

We went for lunch on sunday, we have been before and have never been disappointed, although always busy the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is always high quality and the sunday lunch which I had for the first time is outstanding with large portions. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves their food.

we were staying in kirkbymoorside and were advised to try this inn, it is on the moors about 10 miles from anywhere in every direction. What an amazing pub, 3 coal fires gives a great atmosphere and the food is incredible, on our first visit we had a starter, what a mistake!!! the portions are huge and the quality was...

So long as you can eat a lot you won't be disappointed, we try to come up at least every few months and especially enjoy the festive ambience near Christmas. Great choice for vegetarians too. There is a huge more formal restaurant that is rarely full and ogs are welcome in the bar area where you can eat as well.
