We were interested in seeing the countryside where Heartbeat was filmed. The hotel was great so full of atmosphere: small and cosy with lots of memorabilia. We just had a coffee to soak up the atmosphere. I loved the fact that they still have the sign for the Aidenfield Arms on the side of the building. The village is a...

I had an absolutely dreadful experience here. There Staff we inattentive, rude and messed up my order. The food was very low standard, but worst of all was the manger who was doubly and rude and unwelcoming as all the other Staff. what a great shame, as the Pub has such a great history.

Firstly if there was a category between Average and Very Good I would have used that - We were on a tour and wanted three days in the area decided to stay outside Whitby and when I remembered and found this Hotel I booked it because of the TV history (Aidensfield Arms !) in fact subsequently didn't realise how much...

Food not at all as described as per the menu that we had downloaded from their website before our trip to Goathland. Vegetarian options very limited and overall food below average with above average prices for both food and drinks. Bar staff tried, they were not unhelpful, but they struggled when the bar was busy and as a group of...

We stopped in here for something to eat on a cold and quiet January Saturday night. We were a party of two gay ladies and our Sri Lankan friend plus a dog and had a very uncomfortable and awkward meal...it's a long time since I have felt so uncomfortable! I almost wanted to stand up and say I was almost...

So disappointed, we've visited Goathland many times but never popped into the Hotel for a drink. We called in to have a coffee, but only had about £1 in change, they do take card but minimum spend was £20!!!!! Absolutely ridiculous in this day and age to have a minimum spend so high, had it been £7 or £8 we'd...

The actual pub is lovely, but the Owners are a disgrace and need replacing. Zero personality, no interaction with customers whatsoever. Cheap overseas employees dressed in something resembling a school uniform, with no people skills or enthusiasm whatsoever. When you have been in a number of times as I have recently, you sense the shocking atmoshere. Never open in the...

My family and I visited the Goathland hotel to celebrate my mums 70th birthday. There were 13 in our group, including 2 children and 3 dogs. The staff made us feel very welcome and were very friendly and accommodating. They were even happy to let me leave some decorations to surprise my mum. I cannot thank them enough for making...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to our traditional local pub and hotel. We have become world famous by sheer accident but for the very reasons Yorkshire Television chose us we like to think that the very best of an English village pub has been delivered to an international audience. Our belief is that many come because of the fictional Aidensfield but return for the spirit that is Goathland. Essentially we offer the convenience of a small hotel but with a big personality. The hotel has eight en-suite bedrooms; they all have individual characteristics and views of our wonderful moors and timeless village. Our rooms reflect the traditional building and retain all the charm and character of yesteryear. The rooms are all fully equipped with 32" LCD Televisions with Freeview, Tea, Coffee and Hot Chocolate making facilities and of course all fresh white linens. ... more   less
