It was a lovely old hotel in a beautiful location and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. However, the laminated notes in the bedroom were offputting (initially, then they caused some amusement). The notes belied an unwarranted management philosophy that all guests are going to steal from the hotel! The note explaining what would occur if anything was found...

Thank you for taking the time in posting a review. I am pleased to read that overall you had an enjoyable break. Regarding the laminated note in the room, this is not meant to offend in any way. We have on countless times had items stolen out of our bedrooms, anything from lightbulbs, bedding, electrical equipment etc, we are at...

My wife and I have just completed a three night break at this hotel, possibly our 8th visit since 2009. It is a wonderful hotel hence our many revisits. The rooms are all different, and the four ones we have used over the years are all brilliant. The food in the restaurant is excellent, and of course the staff and...

A nice overnight stay at this inn. Parking out front is convenient and no road noise if room at the back of the place. Fine views of the moors. Bed was quite comfortable. It looks as if a popular local place for wedding and anniversary receptions in the summer months. Restaurant meals quite good. Seperate bar and lounge and architecture...

My friend and I were "on a trip" to the East Coast, the length of which depended mainly on the weather. Having been to Filey in the morning and the weather being beautiful, we decided to travel towards Whitby, detouring to Goathland. Seeing the Mallyon Spout Hotel - a lovely country house type - we called in on spec. It...

Stayed here during first week in January, just as the staff were taking deep breaths to recover from New Year. Had a great time out and about and in the hotel. The owners and staff are superb. Ate in the hotel bar most nights (Spout bar is more atmospheric for us) and we were lucky enough to see Colin who...

Our family party had the two junior suites. They were spacious and with lovely views. We slept very well in the peaceful countryside. We had our evening meal in the bar with good pub grub and friendly service. A decent cooked breakfast with fresh fruit salad etc and lovely service. Good wifi in our room. It was a cold couple...

Visited for a short break. Hotel lovely. We had a room at the top off the hotel, obviously just refurbished. It was clean and welcoming. Only down side were the rock hard pillows but then this is a matter of preference. The staff were all excellent, breakfasts outstanding as were the bar meals. Wold definitely recommend this hotel and will...
