Fabulous Sunday lunch, really well-cooked food, chilled atmosphere, great staff. Water and treats brought out for Teddy the spaniel without us having to ask. Picky eaters no problem, nice balanced menu. Best Caesar salad in the county! Just a really well-run, happy pub.

We had a meal here with friends. The pub was lovely and very well presented The Staff were very friendly and efficient. There was not much on the the menu for a vegetarian, but they made up for this by making me a special stilton salad starter, when I didn't fancy any of the choices on the menu. The food was...

Had a fantastic 2 night trip here. From the moment we walked into the pub we were greeted by excellent staff and extraordinarily friendly locals. James, Shannon, Sophie and Ellie (hope I've got your names right) all succeeded in making my partner and I feel like best friends. The food was delicious. The only problem was it was sooo nice...

The small menu, which is usually a good sign, offered classy pub fare, fish and chips, half a roast chicken, pork belly etc. We ordered all three, fish was good, pork belly was fab but the chicken...oh the chicken...how can a kitchen send out a bloodied chicken. It was sent back and came out again, now jointed, and still it...

I recently returned to the UK after many years abroad and am lucky enough to have settled in the beautiful Oxfordshire village of Duns Tew. A good local pub was a big part of my decision to settle here and on my first visit to the village on a cold December day, I walked into the pub to find a...

We were recommended this restaurant and were really looking forward to our meal. Unfortunately it didn't meet our expectations. We booked a table at 7:30, and the waitress did not take our order until 8:15 we waited a further 45 minutes for our starters which never appeared before explaining to the bar staff we would have to leave as it...

We stayed for a night in March. The room was clean and tidy and did everything you needed. The bar was lively in the evening with nice wine and beer. The food looked good but we were eating elsewhere. The breakfast was truly excellent and served well. Friendly owner. Worth staying and good value

The rooms are very nicely put together. Clean and comfortable with all you need. Great power in the shower too which isn't always the case. The pub is really old and it's in a beautiful part of Oxfordshire in a lovely village. What stood out for me and hence the review is that we have a three week old baby....

Went here for a Sunday lunch - a friend of mine lives in Duns Tew so I had not heard about this place previously. It has everything a pub should have - cosy atmosphere, dark corners, lots of wood and stone, a fireplace, lovely service and delicious food. The pork belly stood out immediately and I was not left disappointed....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The White Horse is a quintessential 17th century English coaching inn set on the eastern side of the Cotswolds in the charming village of Duns Tew. With original flagstone floors, beams and real fires. The White Horse has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere making it the perfect place to enjoy a drink or meal with friends. Our south facing terrace is perfect on warm days. Well behaved children and dogs are welcome. The White Horse has greeted travellers for the last three hundred years. Little is known of the early history of this late 17th century hostelry, but there was certainly an Inn here. Inn keepers are recorded here up to the present day, with its own brew-house run by a Maltster, in the early 17th century. The brew-house is now the site of the gents' loo.Towards the end of 1981 The White Horse was remodelled with the addition of a dining room, but it was still a true Inn as there was stabling and fodder for a traveller's horse as well as Bed and Breakfast for the rider. In the last decade of the 17th century the White Horse was again developed to the arrangement seen now, with a new Kitchen, Dining Room and Bar, in a traditional style, and extended bedroom accommodation. ... more   less
