Don't believe everything you read from the reviews! We arrived not expecting much but we were pleasantly surprised. The Bulls Head is all log fires, cosy tables, low beams and fairy lights and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. We had a gift experience voucher which meant an overnight stay and breakfast but we'd also booked a table for...

Usually not being able to get a table on a busy Friday night is a good sign...so not knowing the area and staying locally for one night we ventured along. First impressions count and in entering the bar area it was very noisy and busy. We couldn't eat in the main restaurant area but found a table in the bar...

Firstly, I find it amusing to read the same General Manager comment to any review less than satisfactory, thus "Innkeepers_Lodge_01, Guest Relations Manager at Innkeeper's Lodge - The Bull's Head, responded to this review We’re so sorry that you didn’t enjoy your stay with us. We were here to celebrate a birthday. The food was really good once it arrived, but unfortunately the starters arrived before our drinks had got to the table - we waited around 20 minutes for them. The scallops were good, but slightly gritty, which was a bit offputting. I wouldn't recommend the crayfish and crab starter - far too much...

I have not sent food back in probably 7 years - I had to send my pork belly back twice. The scallops were undercooked each time and cold in the middle. The whole pork belly was as flaccid as the service and nearly as cold. My friend had the Wagyu beef burger with Stilton, the Stilton came in a solid...

When we arrived we were told they had finished serving in the restaurant this was 7-30 but we could eat in the bar so we sat at a table but were told we couldn't eat there but could eat in the restaurant? Back to the restaurant but this time they said they were fully booked although there were several empty...

Three of us went on evening. Only just managed to get a table as it 2 as busy. Opted for main courses; beetroot and truffle ravioli, Pork belly & scalops send chicken were all good. For beers the Purity IPA and Wainwright's beers were excellent as was the cider. For desert two of us went for New York cheesecake which...

I returned here to stay in the hotel, as I wrote a great review for the restaurant a while ago. I was very keen to stay in the hotel on my visit from Canada. The corridors, carpets, paintwork, doors in the hotel in the main building are dank, smelly, old and not particularly clean. I visited 3 rooms, as the...

Visited for a meal with friends on Saturday evening. Place was quite full but seated fine as we'd pre-booked. In a kind of side room not the main room but that was fine. After waiting a while and having plenty of time to mull over the menu I wanted the Squid starter but unluckily they didn't have that so I...
