First ever visit to Clare. What a lovely Suffolk town! The Bell Hotel is ideally situated. A lovely old English pub with a good size restaurant. We both went for the carvery. Pretty good value and plenty of choice. Really tasty and I felt very full afterwards! The serving at the carvery was a little hit and miss. A little...

The Hotel looks quite nice from the outside, but our room was very tired looking. I can't comment on the more expensive doubles on the first floor. The car park area was scruffy, and the windows on the rooms all needed a good clean. We had an early tea, and the service was really slow, and the food not at...

i stopped at the hotel the weekend of mayday bank holiday, for a wedding across the road. During our 2 night stay, all contact with staff was very positive. The rooms are divided into two distinct areas,in the main building and an area on 2 levels at the back of the hotel. Be aware there are steep stairs to the...

The bell inn/hotel is well located in the centre of the town and has good parking. I have eaten here a lot over the years and what you will find here is a good old English pub with good pub food. I recommend eating here.

I'm glad that you enjoy eating at The Bell! We make everything freshly in-house. We're also looking at expanding our food to including monthly themed weekends - we not come and try our lobster & shellfish night on Thursday 27th- Saturday 29th April 2017? We hope to welcome you back to The Bell very soon.

We had a great Sunday lunch here at their carvery.. Great choice of veg, which I love and lovely dinner.. However, we went back on a week night for a romantic dinner for two.. Food was exquisite and no wait, BUT atmosphere in the pub was truly awful.. Full of people at the bar who had obviously had a few...

Hi …. I'm so glad you enjoyed the carvery, I'm sorry your second visit to The Bell wasn't as good as the first. I will make sure the music is more suitable for all audiences and ensure the volume is set at an appropriate level moving forward. Regarding the guests at the bar, we do have a dining space away...

We booked the hotel to celebrate our first anniversary. My partner chose it as she had been to the town before. Previous reviews are a little mixed so we decided to give it a try. It is an old building and there are a lot of beams and olde worlde features inside so expect no modern decor. The dining area...

I was thrilled to see a party of ten of my family as I entered with Mrs. Executive as a surprise for my, ahem, special birthday. She had chosen this venue after being impressed by it's imposing presence in the historic village. My suspicions were first raised by noticing that my son at the far head of the table was...

We recently stayed here for one night on a Saturday. The restaurant is short staffed and it took a while to receive our food, which was very tasty and reasonable priced. The room itself, in the outbuilding at the back, looked lovely, if not a little tired. The cleaning wasn't great as there was still confetti in the floor from...

So much potential in this historic inn at the centre of a charming village, but it's badly let down by what appears to be a lack of investment and - much worse - a sometimes shocking lack of awareness of customers' needs and expectations. First the good points: We ate here and stayed overnight; the food was generally quite good...
